I used a plastic water bottle with a 30 c Belladonna and put in refrigerator.
I don't think I put alcohol in there. I forgot about the remedy and a month or
two later I was cleaning out the refrigerator and there it was with something
amoeba like over an inch long floating in the bottle. Really disgusting. I've
never seen that with just leaving a plain old bottle of water in the
refrigerator for a long time. Whatever it was it was a few different colors.

yes, even in filtered water this happens
Need to put alcohol in it.............but even then it still might
grow after awhile.
why do you need to keep belladonna?

Does anyone know if it matters if you add alcohol to a remedy bottle already in use? I prepared a 200C split dose 4 oz bottle which I will use over time. I've successed it already for 10 doses. Does the alcohol have to be added and successed with the water at the beginning, will it affect the remedy if I add alcohol halfway through? Also, how much and can it be any alcohol, wine, vodka, schnapps?

It shouldn't be any problem to add, but you want to use the purest alcohol you can, e.g. Vodka.

Am wondering if instead of alcohol you can use glycerin? That is what's used in non-alcholic herbal tinctures.

That too is sometimes used.
If just used as preservative at the end, I wouldn't think there's any problem.

Depending what the watery solution is used for. If it is for acute prescribing there is no need to add anything since the doses are taken in shorter intervals and the cure is established before the bottle is empty. You can then empty the bottle but still use the bottle for same remedy next time.

However as Hahnemannn also advises, if one lives in hot damp climate he would put up to one third of alcohol in the bottles. Obviously they did not have refrigerators then and the same situation can still occur when you work in third world countries. Otherwise putting it in refrigerator and even in cupboard away from sun would be ok with regular dose of alcohol. For those that are in AA and refuse to have any alcohol as a preservative, use glycerin in same amounts.

Hahnemann discusses the use of charcoal when the patient is too sensitive to alcohol.
Refer to Chronic Diseases page 156 it's in the Preface concerning the technical part of homeopathy:
"In chronic diseases I have found it best to give a dose (e.g., a spoonful) of a solution of the suitable medicine at least every two days, more usually every day.
But since water (even distilled water) commences after a few days to be spoil, whereby the power of the small quantity of medicine contained is destroyed, the addition of a little alcohol is necessary, or where this is not practicable, or if the patient cannot bear it, I add a few small pieces of hard charcoal to the watery solution. This answers the purpose, except that in the latter case the fluid in a few days receives a blackish tint. This is caused by shaking the liquid, as is necessary every time before giving a dose of medicine, as may be seen below."

Make up solutions 40, 30, 20, 15 or 8 tablespoons of water.

Add some alcohol or a piece of charcoal to keep the solution from spoiling.

If charcoal is used suspend it on a thread in the bottle and remove it when

succussing the bottle.
I called a pharmacy chain, by the name of Rite Aid, and they do carry charcoal in tablet form. There used to be a product by the name of "Charcoal Plus", don't know if it's still around, I guess any brand would be the same as another.
