That's why electron microscopes are used instead for the job.
? Seeing them in the blood doesn't count as "detecting"? Not sure what this is about... Oh, I guess that's what your next comment addresses.
Yes, those are amazing!
But as I remember, they too aren't able to see things as small as a virus.
But speaking of -- I do have a rather "special" memory of watching something munching on one of my red blood cells; the "operator" (don't know what title would be; he has 30 years experience in the field and produces excellent clinical results) just called it a parasite, and pointed out other cells which had been "colonized."
This too I would think supports the idea that not all microorganisms are benign.
(And yes if my immune system had been in better shape, no doubt it would have eliminated the critters. I also remember him showing me sub-optimal white blood cells, too sleepy to be keeping up with their job. But--I do *not* accept that as meaning that therefore the organisms played no part in my ill health; nor did he.)
