I had a query today from a patient about homeoprophylaxis for her college-age (unvaccinated) son, who will be in China for a month. Any one have any experience using the Polio nosode for this or Lathyrus?

Would you REALLY not give polio vaccine to a son/daughter?
I wouldn't take the chance.... not with polio or variola.

every case of polio that occurred after the vaccine in the US was because of the
vaccine

In my coursework we were told it's caused by a virus which is actually not very virulent, and usually causes only symptoms of a simple "cold" before the immune system eliminates it. We were told that it only causes paralysis when it is able to evade immune defenses long enough to infiltrate the (?)spine.

If that's the case then perhaps straightforward constitutional / chronic case prescribing (and any other immune supportive measures) would be appropriate? I don't know what the source of this info is, tho. (Other than our teacher.)

I haven't read anything close to *all* of the material, but I have seen nothing to counter the *observations* that it is contagious, nor that it is caused by a virus. I think the point is well taken and important, that those same symptoms can *also* be caused by toxicities.

But to me, the fact that all US cases in recent decades have been either from the vaccine *or from contact with fecal matter of a recently vaccinated child* (diapers or swimming pool) just doesn't support the idea that no infection was involved. You can google up all sorts of photos (said to be) of polio viruses. Maybe all those people are lying; but why...

And variola? that is smallpox and that is not given to anyone anymore.
