NEWSLETTER April 2012 on Malawi by Harry van der Zee
- Great opportunities for homeopaths to get unrivalled and life changing clinical
and teaching experience in Africa.
- Chintheche (Malawi) a great place to live and work.
- Donations towards a really worthwhile project greatly appreciated.
I am just back from Malawi where I spent 8 weeks together with Richard Pitt (Former Principal Pacific Academy of Homeopathy) to support the Chintheche Homeopathy Clinic. The clinic has been established by Joseph Msumba to offer homeopathic treatment to the local community. HIV/AIDS and malaria are amongst the main conditions that are being treated, but homeopathic care is actually offered for a wide variety of diseases. Depending on the condition PC Resonances are being used as well as regular homeopathic remedies or a combination of the two where one complements the other. Joseph and his team are doing amazing work and it is well worth checking some of the latest videos at www.arhf.nl . There are some new really significant and quite stunning testimonials.
The main focus of what we have been doing at the Chintheche Homeopathy Clinic is to provide regular homeopathic health care to the extended local community with outreach as well. We have started a training curriculum existing of several levels of competence. A first group of 28 people graduated on the first level during our stay. Most of them already worked as community care providers and they are now able to treat HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB in their villages using PC Resonances. As treating cases of HIV/AIDS was part of their training they already offered great service to their people. Patients that are too sick or too poor to travel to the clinic can now nevertheless be helped. As the governmental hospital is often without medication and activily refers patients for homeopathic treatment, the Chintheche Homeopathy Clinic and its outreach program cover a huge need. Besides the regular follow-ups we (the team) saw 100 new patients per week.
We have selected 14 students to receive the next level of homeopathic education. Language skills, their performance during the first training and their motivation were the main selection criteria. Richard, who is still in Malawi has already started phase 2. A group of visiting homeopaths will together carry out the full curriculum, which is designed around the main conditions the clinic is being confronted with. Depending on Joseph’s and our experience in Malawi and other African countries, a practical and effective treatment protocol is being created in which regular homeopathy and PC Resonances are being used optimally.
Building our own clinic
In these past two months the clinic has been painted, furniture was made, stocks of remedies prepared and assistants have been trained on the job. ARHF is supporting the clinic, paying about half of the monthly expenses and many of the essential supplies. The relationship with the local hospital and the local authorities is excellent. The current clinic building is being rented which is not ideal. We are now deciding on a plot of land to build our own clinic so we can design it to the needs of the team. We plan it such that it can be build in stages, depending on the ongoing development. We expect a budget is needed of 12-15,000 Euros.
Interested in having an amazing working experience in Africa?
If you are a homeopath and interested in working in Africa, this is a great opportunity. Working and teaching in the clinic is an enriching experience and your skills are highly appreciated. What you know already is enough, except we will offer you informal Skype training for the epidemic aspects. Two of you could go together. Joseph is in charge and will also induct you.
Chintheche lies in the heart of Africa, between stunningly beautiful hills and the majestic Lake Malawi, and its people are extremely kind. This is a very safe country. I’ve seen quite a lot of Africa but the daily walks to and from the clinic during these past 8 weeks have been a great joy, each and every time. Have a look at the videos ‘Chintheche Homeopathy Clinic’ and ‘Chintheche and Surroundings’ at www.ARHF.nl to get an impression. Get in touch with me at the email address below in case you’re interested in joining the team. Previous experience with PC Resonances is no prerequisite, openness to their reality in Africa is. Participating homeopaths cover their own expenses for what is an extremely enriching experience.
