Minutus

Dear all,

I am a homeopathy student with limited experience in resolving acute diseases. My 6 month-old baby was diagnosed with bronchiolitis yesterday and was prescribed conventional treatment which I had to struggle with myself to refuse. I am taking him to a local homeopath tomorrow, who I hope will do better at resolving his case.

After filling in the repertorization chart for the n-th time, I came up with Pulsatilla and Arsenicum Alb. I gave him 4 doses of Arsenicum alb 30 C in MS, one pellet dissolved in 4 oz of water, succussed 8 times, one teaspoon directly from bottle. Repeated it whenever old symptoms returned. His coughing seemed to reduce, he slept well during the night without coughing. He just had a bad coughing episode and I was wondering whether to repeat.

Here's a summary of his symptoms:
Common cold
bland/transparent nasal discharge (odourless)
profuse after sneezing
sticky
frothy (with bubbles)
Cough
wheezing
exhausting
mucus transparent with bubbles (frothy), sometimes white
difficult to cough up
disturbs sleep
Ear inflammation
right ear only
yellow discharge (beewax-like, scanty)
Sneezing
Restless
Wants to be carried constantly (briskly)
Desires company
Generalities: better fresh air (calms him down immediately), worse morning/afternoon and evening, worse lying down (the minute we put him down he starts crying loudly and coughing), thirsty sometimes for sips, sometimes for large quantities.

He is generally very good-natured, smiles at everyone who speaks to him, kicks in the air with excitement and is curious. Fair-complexioned, possibly blue or green-eyed. Definitely not sluggish, much less shy as a typical Pulsatilla. He seems to be rather hurried and eager to explore. Sensitive to noise. Screams when disappointed. Falling aslep is the hardest thing on a daily basis as he always cries beforehand.

He has never been vaccinated, is 100 % breastfed since birth and has never received suppresive treatment

I have not had to check the repertorisation for you. But Kent says, do not desert a remedy that has done well.
So if Ars is doing well, keep with it.
Is the baby hot or cold - by that I mean does it want to be wrapped up warm or wants least covers! (cries when heated).

If the latter, then with >> Fresh air, it looks more like Puls than Ars.
This is a good case for you to learn how to differentiate between and among remedies.
Hope your baby is back to full health soon.

Do remember though that Arsenicum likes to be covered up in bed BUT likes their head outside the covers.

thank you so much for devoting time to our case!

He is cold to the touch and does not like being covered (even dressing up distresses him greatly) and he cries anytime I change his clothes.

He kicks off the covers at night, so I have to cover him up frequently.

His cough makes him angry rather than miserable. The couging episodes are worse in the morning and 3-5 p.m. He sleeps well during the night, no coughing occurs then.

I have a feeling he either needs Puls or a different remedy (other than Ars.alb) as his now whitish nasal discharge (odourless) comes in long sticky strings (Kali-b, Kali-m).

Will keep you posted on his progress.

Ars would seek heat!

Dear Soroush and all,

after giving 3 consecutive doses of Pulsatilla 30 C today and not seeing any positive effect, I have decided it doesn't suit his case and have reviewed the bronchiolitis remedies instead.

His homeopath whom we saw for the first time today, suggested giving one dose of Antimonium tartaricum 200 C in MS, 10 succussions, one drop directly from bottle and if that fails, Coccus cacti will be a better match. I do think Coccus cacti suits the generalities better such as viscid mucus and worse mornings, but have given the Ant-t just now and waiting for vital force response.

He has long coughing fits in the morning and cannot expectorate any mucus since Monday this week. If he does expectorate, the mucus is clear and viscous.

I will keep everyone posted. Thank you for bearing with me!

Good call on the remedies. I would give Ant Tart if there was an audible wheeze. Brilliant remedy. If there is an improvement and the symptoms reoccur ask your homeopath if you can repeat the dose.

One of the loveliest signs of Ant-tart, apart from the rattling in the lungs, is the fact that cough is much much better when absolutely up-right but when leaning backwards or lying down it become much worst and can be very painful too.

His homeopath whom we saw for the first time today, suggested giving one dose of Antimonium tartaricum 200 C in MS, 10 succussions, one drop directly from bottle and if that fails, Coccus cacti will be a better match. I do think Coccus cacti suits the generalities better such as viscid mucus and worse mornings, but have given the Ant-t just now and waiting for vital force response.

He has long coughing fits in the morning and cannot expectorate any mucus since Monday this week. If he does expectorate, the mucus is clear and viscous.

thank you so much for devoting time to our case!

He is cold to the touch and does not like being covered (even dressing up distresses him greatly) and he cries anytime I change his clothes.

He kicks off the covers at night, so I have to cover him up frequently.

His cough makes him angry rather than miserable. The couging episodes are worse in the morning and 3-5 p.m. He sleeps well during the night, no coughing occurs then.

I have a feeling he either needs Puls or a different remedy (other than Ars.alb) as his now whitish nasal discharge (odourless) comes in long sticky strings (Kali-b, Kali-m).

Will keep you posted on his progress.

I have not had to check the repertorisation for you. But Kent says, do not desert a remedy that has done well.
So if Ars is doing well, keep with it.
Is the baby hot or cold - by that I mean does it want to be wrapped up warm or wants least covers! (cries when heated).

If the latter, then with >> Fresh air, it looks more like Puls than Ars.
This is a good case for you to learn how to differentiate between and among remedies.
Hope your baby is back to full health soon.

I am a homeopathy student with limited experience in resolving acute diseases. My 6 month-old baby was diagnosed with bronchiolitis yesterday and was prescribed conventional treatment which I had to struggle with myself to refuse. I am taking him to a local homeopath tomorrow, who I hope will do better at resolving his case.

After filling in the repertorization chart for the n-th time, I came up with Pulsatilla and Arsenicum Alb. I gave him 4 doses of Arsenicum alb 30 C in MS, one pellet dissolved in 4 oz of water, succussed 8 times, one teaspoon directly from bottle. Repeated it whenever old symptoms returned. His coughing seemed to reduce, he slept well during the night without coughing. He just had a bad coughing episode and I was wondering whether to repeat.

Here's a summary of his symptoms:
Common cold
bland/transparent nasal discharge (odourless)
profuse after sneezing
sticky
frothy (with bubbles)
Cough
wheezing
exhausting
mucus transparent with bubbles (frothy), sometimes white
difficult to cough up
disturbs sleep
Ear inflammation
right ear only
yellow discharge (beewax-like, scanty)
Sneezing
Restless
Wants to be carried constantly (briskly)
Desires company
Generalities: better fresh air (calms him down immediately), worse morning/afternoon and evening, worse lying down (the minute we put him down he starts crying loudly and coughing), thirsty sometimes for sips, sometimes for large quantities.

He is generally very good-natured, smiles at everyone who speaks to him, kicks in the air with excitement and is curious. Fair-complexioned, possibly blue or green-eyed. Definitely not sluggish, much less shy as a typical Pulsatilla. He seems to be rather hurried and eager to explore. Sensitive to noise. Screams when disappointed. Falling aslep is the hardest thing on a daily basis as he always cries beforehand.

He has never been vaccinated, is 100 % breastfed since birth and has never received suppresive treatment

One of the loveliest signs of Ant-tart, apart from the rattling in the lungs, is the fact that cough is much much better when absolutely up-right but when leaning backwards or lying down it become much worst and can be very painful too.

after giving 3 consecutive doses of Pulsatilla 30 C today and not seeing any positive effect, I have decided it doesn't suit his case and have reviewed the bronchiolitis remedies instead.

Dear all,

have given 3 doses of Ant-t 200 C. Some initial improvement ensued yesterday after the first dose (coughing seized after a short coughing episode right after administering the remedy and the nasal discharge stopped). So I repeated again in the morning when another coughing episode manifested itself and the same thing happened. Now after the third dose, the nasal discharge is still present (2 hours after the dose).

There is audible rattling/wheezing in his chest when he breathes, no expectoration at all, he still sneezes and is extremely hard to please. What excites the cough is the nasal discharge most likely as when he sneezes and his nose starts running, he starts coughing.
