The old definition of paresis was somewhat specific to brain damage (inflammation) due to syphilis. The more modern definition includes muscular weakness caused by nerve damage or disease (partial paralysis). When using our Materia Medica and Repertories – is the word paresis based on the old definition? If so – is there a more modern term to be used when we see partial paralysis caused by nerve damage?
