Prove the Periodic Table! Radon

I just now re-upped my subscription to provings.info
and no proving for Radon is listed.

This brings me to a favorite topic of mine.

I dont want to discount Scholten's inspiration but I think it would be very important for the homeopathic community to actually do provings for the entire periodic table.

We cant just rely on someone's inspired imagination for these elements like Radon.

If the entire world homeopathic world community made it a priority we could probably prove the rest of the periodic table and many combinations of elements in a year or two. Think how wonderful it would be to confirm/correct and extend Scholten's understanding of the elements.

Then we could go on and do the same for some of the plant families to see if the speculations on them match the reality.

Maybe the colleges are a good place to instigate the provings. Is Joy Lucas doing one at the moment as she has done a few now.

Wow, this topic dropped like a rock to the bottom of the pool.

No interest in having provings of the remainder of the periodic
table?

We are all happy with the state of affairs where there is no
concrete materia medica for many elements?

I would be interesting to poll "classical" (single remedy) homeopaths to see whether they are using the unproven elements using Scholtens methods or whether they are not using them at all. I suspect there are those two camps on the matter. Wonder what percentage in each.

Many of us here take part in provings all of the time. They may not be relegated to the periodic table though. So an interest in having the rest of the periodic table proved is no different than having the rest of the plant kingdom proved for example.

I am not sure where your assertion that "there is no concrete materia medica for many elements". This is not true in context with the other kingdom groupings. Less than 1 percent of the animal and plant kingdoms are proved while about 60% of the periodic table is proved.

I cannot speak for the rest on this board, but I think a major obstacle to using much of Scholtens theories is that it is based on the use of unproven medicines, which becomes a legitimate medical ethics question. How can one use a medicine with only speculative guesswork regarding the "possible" outcome and no mm? This is not science or medicine.

And secondarily how do we as a community ever expect to be viewed or treated as equals in the modern medical and scientific communities if we are dabbling in medicines that have never seen a clinical trial? All the time I hear Homeopaths talking/whining about being taken seriously in a modern medical context, and yet there is this growing fringe of new agey pseudopathy that is responsible for one terrible prescription after another.

If any conventional doctor gave an unproven medicine to his/her patients they would be sued and loose their license. How could we think of ourselves any differently if we consider homeopathy a medical science?

Best regards,
Rik

I'd say that Rik has answered adequately on behalf of anybody aspiring to practise what Hahnemann named homoeopathy. :-) I agree with Roger that the idea is absurd that any such practitioner would prescribe a remedy based purely on speculations: Scholten's or anybody else's. But Rik's answer clarifies that there cannot be homoeopaths who practise homoeopathy and those who (sometimes) choose instead to practise pure speculation.

What distinguishes homoeopathy from all other forms of medicine is that it originates in, and depends utterly upon, forgoing all speculation and relies instead and solely upon on a sure knowledge of a medicine's pure effects. There can be no such sole reliance and no such knowledge to be relied upon until the medicine is taken, and its ill effects are known, by the healthy.

Cheers --

So if you don't know absolutely how to help a patient (and neither you nor they know of anyone more likely to be able to), best thing is to say Sorry, can't help ya! Even though experience of many tells us there *is* a reasonable chance that certain types of "educated guesswork" -- based upon solid *homeopathic* experience -- could do the job?

Well, that's one possible, and arguably honorable, approach. Personally I am grateful to have been cared for by homeopaths more willing to go out on a limb in a pinch, because much of my family's progress has happened out on one limb or another.

To each his own...
Best wishes,
Shannon

Just to put some perspective on this issue: that vast majority of allopathic meds are unproven for their
uses, are no better or worse than placebos, and/or do significant harm to patients.
Drug corps encourage doctors to use their drugs for all kinds of conditions not specified in tests or FDA
approvals.
So while we may not have provings on some of the periodic table, we can see from Scholten's work a
clear direction of the energetics across the periodic table that results in a logical understanding of how
the elements might/will work for healing. This is far more evidentiary than the fraud perpetrated by drug
corps and medical institutions. It is good to remember that evidence is not the basis of medical industry
success. It was and still is money and political clout.

There are many ways to see evidence Shannon and having a solid understanding of how something works based on hahnemanian
observation; ie, the periodic table, can lead to what we call an 'educated decision.'
What is missing in this profession is an organized method to record case results in order to create a solid data base.

Well put, Tanya--and I'd add too, that in our field clinical observation is a *valid* and useful additional means of building materia medica. Provings are an essential *base*, but they simply are not our only mat med building tool.

Some is recorded in journals, print and on-line. But I'm sure more would be better.
