Hi I am hoping that someone might know a specific rx for cysts on collie x springer spaniel. She is 13yrs old. The cyst is between her right ear and eye. She has many large lipomas also but this cyst has appeared recently. I think that if it is removed surgically she will just produce more

There are certainly a few remedies that address cysts well. But I feel this may best be treated from the standpoint of the underlying chronic disease, likely well-represented by existing symptoms, including the cyst. At this age, the body has been attempting to cast out the dysfunction for some time - thus all the encapsulation of the lipomas as well as the cyst. Her case will need to be treated with the gentlest possible methods, as it is complex and she is elderly. You are correct that no suppressive measure will help in the long run, but just make things worse.

Perhaps treating to resolve the cyst, and then moving to the most appropriate chronic remedy - if it's not the same - would be a valid method. It's also possible that physical removal of this cyst, because of its potentially dangerous location, and then commencing chronic treatment, would be the most efficacious approach.

I feel you do not want to "undertreat" this situation - one way or another, the cyst needs attention.

Thank you for responding. She was given Puls before for ear infection and it did not help. When i stopped giving her soya in her feed the infections stopped. Even now if she eats a crust of white bread which has soya flour in it there in < of her ear. So I have given her silica 1m to and wait. The homeopathis vet who treated her before said that high potencies were good for dogs. She has good vitality. So I will keep you posted. Its hard when its you own pet!. Unfortunately there is no vet using homeopathy in Dublin.
