succussion is intimately linked to potentisation and he does refer to the why's and wherefores of succussion amongst the § that refer to potentisation - around § 269 etc, in the footnotes, where he writes about how natural substances change by means of friction, warmth, magnetisation etc - about how changes take place via trituration and succussion as well under the condition of employing an indifferent vehicle in certain proportions - he knew this stuff and says that this wonderful pathogenic law of nature had not been discovered before his time (sorry don't have time to write it all out) - as said he was a great experimenter

Not at all disagreeing or trying to be contrary, but this is how H explains succussion and potentisation AFTER having used this methodology, seeing its effectiveness and using it for some time to prepare remedies.
The original enquiry was how did he in the first place decide to use succussion.
It does not remove anything from his discovery, it is actually a very common occurrence in research to find a method/technique first through trial and error, realise it is good, use it, and only then explain how it works and why it works.

Can only suggest you read again as it states how he learned from experience about how certain methods change the nature of substances (a common experience) but he went on to discover succussion and potentisation because........... footnote 2 of § 269

Just read it again, and again, and once more, he never says: I decided to shake and bang the bottle because of that......
The footnotes are the clear explanation of why what he did worked, retrospective analysis, not why or how he got the "idea" to proceed that way.
Does not change anything to the facts and the results.

your glasses must be different to mine then - it is clear to read that he knew that 'mixing' caused changes and those changes were necessary to keep the potency 'alive', dynamized, and that he was the one who thought about THAT first, it is a bit like asking why he chose to prove Spongia, it was there already, had been used in medicine, so let's take it a bit further etc etc
