Adult patient was given Arnica before and after operation which was on Monday. Just had an email

Was planning on giving her Ledum 200 for the puncture wound and Hypericum 200 for the pain. She also said she thought the Arnica helped but I think she needs something else now.
Anyone got any other thoughts re remedies?

On two occasions I experienced Arnica making pain *worse* when the needed remedy was Hypericum. So given that the pain sounds unusually intense for the situation *and* it sounds like nerve involvement... ?

I'll add another perspective from experience for consideration. I have seen Arnica fail to provide pain relief at higher potencies (but the tissues did appear to be healing very well). Taking the potency down to 12c in several individuals reduced the pain levels significantly – where the same individuals did not experience relief at 200c.

Given the level of discomfort and specific description of the symptoms of the hand – is it possible to get a 'full' or at lease fuller case at this point, and not just do acute care?

Yes - a good thought . She actually wanted to have this operation which is why I didn't think of that one.

I only gave her Arnica 30!! Why is it the difficult ones are the non paying clients!! This is a friend's adult daughter!! Am waiting for her Mum to come round to get the remedies.
I have just found

Throat; pain; tonsils; operation for removal, after: (1) lac-f,

But I am sure I don't have that in my stock!!

Personally, for surgery or severe injury, I have found 1M strikingly more effective than lower potencies--tho have exhausted the possibilities with low potencies by any means. But for me and my kids, 1M for the sort or situation is what gave the magical relief within minutes.

Don't know if this would have made a difference but when I was in school and we performed
minor surgery we often gave STAPHYSAGRIA in addition to other remedies such as ARNICA
& HYPERICUM

What about Phytolacca? Knowing how intense that sore throat can be, I think it might be appropriate for the pain an adult feels after a tonsillectomy. I'd look closely at the modalities here.

Gave her Ledum 200 for the hand problem after the drip and Hypericum 200 for the pain. I will see how she goes.
Thanks for the suggestion
