Vitamin D status

I remember reading about a study of nurses who work at night under fluorescent lights and their higher incidence of breast cancer, a couple of years back maybe. The idea was that the cause might be the fluorescent lighting, but in fact maybe it was lack of Vitamin D? Teresa (Northern VA)
I think it might be that Vitamin D status could be part of maintaining causes.

I live in one of the sunniest cities in the world and many doctors here have started checking Vitamin D levels. Deficiency is more common than sufficiency. Latest research is showing that it's the middle of the day sunlight that we need to make Vitamin D, because it's the length of the light ray that matters, not just sunlight. Also we shouldn't be washing too soon after we come in from the sun, because time is needed for whatever happens on the skin to be absorbed into the body.

Our lifestyles keep many of us inside during the day under fluorescent lighting and if we are outside the message here of 'Slip, Slop, Slap' to protect our skin from cancer causing sunlight is so strong that getting a good dose of sunlight comes with a good dose of guilt about irresponsiblity.

Lifestyle and diet is the basis of homoeopathy - if they are correct you often don't even need to give a rememdy.

Dr. John Ott is a big name on vision and effects of flourescent lights on health. He talks of the stress
created by this lighting and its impact on the adrenals and weakening of the immune system. There
are many people who get really sick working under these lights. Since stress is the beginning of all
diseases, this lighting may be causative in the development of cancer. The working indoors so
extensively pretty much guarantees a Vit D deficiency which is implicated in the development of cancer.

I don't think it's lack of Vitamin D. Fluorescent lights are bad for everyone - and the negative effects start immediately they are switched on. This can be proved with AK. Same goes for long-life bulbs - they're bad for you, and weaken the immune system.

I think it is the existing Vit D deficiency that aggravates the negative effects of flourescents. But I do I know they destroy the
Vitamin A in the eyes.

Yes, possibly, then. Didn't know about the Vit A and the eyes - interesting.
