We have two dogs with an Mitochondrial Disorder and seizures, one of them has strokes too, she got a worse kind of this illness. Her biggest problem is Overheating. First it was just during warm days, now her illnes is that progressive that she has the symptoms also in winter.
Biggest symptoms are: Epileptic Seizures, Strokes, headaches, overheating, muscle weakness.
Januari 2008
1st Remedy: Lachesus mutus (every second day 2 grn.) She started to get to cold, after she got to cold, we stopped remedy
April 2008
2nd Remedy: Rabies nosode (2 times a week 2 grn) The other dog did get seizure after this Rabiesnosode (no results, stopped Remedy)
3-rd Remedy: Phosporus D30 (2 times daily 5 drops) Seizures increasing, she is getting strokes too, after last stroke, can't walk longer than 200 mtr. (stopped Remedy)

4-th Remedy: Glonoine D30 (1 dosage of 2 grn in the 2 days. The one day after the dosage Glonoine She could walk, play, run, the second day after the Glonoine, she could bearly walk (only 200 mtr) than she got the dosage again, and she could walk again.
December 2008: Glonoine not strong enough, Added Chinese Herbals to keep the warmt down (seen no strokes anymore after this change)
Than daily dosage of Glonoine D30 (2 grn) after a while she still had clusterseizures, and strokes, muscle weakness and still to warm. But stopping was'nt possible, no glonoine is no walking (and overheating, seizures etc)
March 2010
Mitochondrial Disorder is triggerd again, by the outside temperature, illnes got worse, overheating is back, more seizures
Glonoine Changed from D30 into C30 (2 grn. a day) (still clusteringseizures)
April 2010
Glonoine dosage changed from 2 grn. into 1 grn. (clustering stopped) time between seizures get longer
unfortunately her illness is progressive, stress and the outside temperature can trigger her illness and we make big steps backworths. I hope someone can help me with this. The Glonoine helps, but it does not enough for my girl.

I have had two cases of canine epilepsy helped with Belladonna - which does have this modality. Might be worth a look.

Also Glonoine seems to have been valuable here but ceased working, perhaps potency or dose were incorrect - never abandon a rx that has helped that much - maybe LM's would be the answer.

This is the work of an Homeopath, but later on taken over by an Holistic vet, because the homeopath thought 4 seizures in the month is no problem. (for me and the dog it is too much)

The homeopatic vet has thought of Vaccine damage, the last vaccination before the first symptoms came were a Rabiesvaccination.She is been only vaccinated till her second year. I have in a total 4 dogs walking here with symptoms of a mitochondrial disorder, all family. 2 of them don't have big problems, only lack of energy very tired eyes (and some other small symptoms) if you compare to the two with seizures.

She is moaning a lot. I think the moaning started with 5 months, first when she was tired. But later on, she was moaning all day. The more moaning, the more seizures she had. Than I talked to an Dogwhisperer and she felt her headaches (I know a lot of people won't believe a dogwhisperer). The better she is doing, the less she is moaning.

The Glonoine does much for her. I was suprised the first time after her stroke that she could walk again. She could not walk for 3 weeks after the stroke, than she became Glonoine (unfortunately once in the 2 days) and she walked the morning after her dosage Glonoine. But than the next day she could bearly walk.

Just to say also that I think you will find that the 'moaning' is or could be part of the rabies state and there is a rubric 'hydrophobia with moaning and barking' - this is human barking not doggy but also when strokes/brain/epilepsy is involved you do also get this moaning as well, e.g. in Apis it actually becomes a cry or shriek - just thinking the 'moaning' ought to be included in the repping - could be valuable lead to the simillimum.

My perspective is that vaccines cause brain encephylitis which is painful; ie, headaches and moaning due to pain.
Years ago when not so well informed, my son who had some vaccines used to go into this horrible high squealing.
It went on for 2-3 years till he was about 4-5 yrs old. I think the only thing that saved him from deeper long term damage
was the vitamin supplements, vegetable diet, and daily fresh made yogurt and whole grain bread i would make weekly.
Today we know that vaccines do cause this brain damage and that nutrition is critical for brain health.
I did treat 1 dog and 1 cat with brain strokes or epilepsy. I dealt with it as toxicity in the brain and used low level laser
only on the dog and LLL with homepathy on the cat (who was mine). I also changed the diet to species appropriate
raw, organic food which I still feed to my sole remaining puss. The remedy I gave my cat was a constitutional rx, not
an acute specific. After her 'stroke' she was walking in circles with her little head twisted almost 90 degrees. Within
24 hours she could walk straight and figure out how to eat with her neck so twisted. It took a few weeks but her head
straightened out over 90% and she lived another 2 yrs till age 19.
We need to factor in all conditions and not forget the food we feed them which builds toxicity if manufactured.
