Can homeopathy detect health problem at it's early stage? (when

The wrist blood pressure monitors work for all but the skinniest wrists. I would have thought most homeopaths would take a BP in an adult who hadn’t had it done recently or who had certain symptoms. Asymptomatic children probably not but if you believe there is a familial weakness there perhaps you do have to take some responsibility for doing it or asking! This would be true of allopathic practice as much as homeopathic.

I wonder if anyone can suggest a good introduction to homeopathic thinking for you – it might be a better way of gaining understanding. There is a lovely book called Homeopathy Flows (I think) by Mo Morrish that you might be able to get hold of...

Are we suggesting that all people are the same and should have the same BP?
Everybody also has latent cancer virus - should we all go into chemothrpy. etc.
before it shows up in its virulent form?
A few years ago big pharmas advised doctors that the ideal BP from now on will be
considered 75/115 - thus roping in a lot of healthy people and turning them into
patients of HBP.
Should we Homeopaths be following allopathic ways and blindly label healthy
individuals as HBP patients because a chart they prepared indicates that they
could be so?
Most tribals in India have a homoglobin count of between 3 and 5 and are perfectly
healthy and hardly ever get sick. Even if given blood transfusions with a high count,
they very soon revert to their genetic blood count.
I think this whole issue should be thought out carefully and we should'nt just follow norms.

I was just thinking of suggesting that book--very readable and covers Dooley's personal
growth and experience while presenting some core homeopathic principles.
For more academic approach perhaps George Vithoulkas' Science of Homeopathy

The situation was a bit particular, but here's an anecdote to illustrate
the idea that a homeopath can in fact "see" effects of BP without a
cuff/monitor:

My mother (who suffered from quite a lot of heart problems) was put on
an allopathic medication that was supposed to "strengthen her heart". It
was not a NECESSARY medication, but was tried to see if it couldn't
improve her overall state (sorry but I can't remember anymore what it was).
an abrupt change of mood: she was no longer upbeat and positive, no
longer spoke eagerly of getting things done. I told her the medication
was not doing her any good, to talk to her doctor, not to take it. She
wasn't aware of any changes, didn't think it was true, continued taking it.
as a symptom ("I'm just not hungry today, that's all. Stop bothering
me!"), and was melancholy, tired. She spent most of the day on the sofa
reading instead of out in her garden working, but blamed it on "sleeping
badly".
well, but kept taking the medication because her doctor had told her to.
On the evening of the third day, she fainted dead away when she got up
from the sofa. My father, an MD who was watching this whole thing and
saying nothing up until then, measured her BP, and found it was
EXTREMELY low. When she came around, he told her to stop taking it and
call her doctor in the morning.
before she started a family), the only "real" physical symptom of any
worth was the fact that she fainted. THEN it was worthy of being taken
seriously, measured and treated. But I was able to notice from the very
first dose that something wasn't right, because I was looking at OTHER
things.

pressure problem has slowly increased over time, rather than being
produced quickly due to a drug. But the idea that there are plenty of
OTHER indicators which a homeopath sees, "measures" and can use to find
a cure, is the same in both cases.

Hope this helps,

Lois

An illustration of ? detecting blood pressure, .... or "that's something is not right"?

Hi John,
Her illustration highlighted that "something was wrong" but no indication that it was blood pressure related. In this instance anyway, low blood pressure usually gives symptoms far easier than high blood pressure. Now, we don't know the drug that was given, but let's say her mom's heart condition was related to palpitation's or tachycardia. perhaps then a beta-blocker was prescribed, which can significantly lower blood pressure. Now, both mom and dad were medically trained and should have been aware of potential side-effects, whether beta-blocker or not.
So, to me what this illustrates is, firstly when a patient shows a downward trend in health or disposition, take note. I think we agree on this. But it is the same for homeopathic treatment. Secondly, I have to wonder if this was not an example of how allopathically trained personnel shy away from observing the potential side-effects of treatment (sort of "don't shoot the holy cow") or how perhaps one medically trained person is reluctant to criticize the prescription of another GP.
regards,
Paul

You are indeed correct, Lois, although what you describe enters under the category of side-effects of drugs; clearly any new symptom that appears after starting any medication must first and foremost raise the suspicion of a direct relation. And the action is not always on the BP, it can provoke any symptom and mimic any disease/pathology.
The point I am trying to make though is that we should not deprive ourselves of valuable information easily obtained and easily learned.
