Has come up in repertorization for dislike of tight things around waist. A strong keynote.
This woman has a history of severe pain with menses radiating down legs. She has a long cycle and has been trying to become pregnant for some time. Occasional Ignatia 30c has helped distress about this
Now in early pregancy worried about little darting pains. Magn Phos does not fit. Lycopodium and Lachesis do not fit general picture.
I have very little information about this remedy and hesitate to use it though seems to fit. Jean

Xan patients are very anxious and restless. Their

restlessness can be compared with Arsenicum album.

This anxious restlessness is usually apparent before

menses.

MIND - ANXIETY

MIND - RESTLESSNESS - menses - before

MIND - RESTLESSNESS - women, in

They have different fears like fear of death and dark.

MIND - FEAR - dark; of

MIND - FEAR - death, of

There is a great anxiety about future; fear that

something will happen.

MIND - ANXIETY - future, about

All these mental features are aggravated before

menses.

Hypersensitivity to noise is another feature of

Xantoxylum. That's why it is also compared with

Phosphorus and Sabina.

MIND - SENSITIVE - noise, to - slightest noise; to the

MIND - STARTING - noise, from

Apathy and sadness may also develop in Xan patients;

esp before menses!

MIND - SADNESS - menses - before

MIND - INDIFFERENCE - life, to

So do not forget these features of Xantoxylum;

Restlessness, Fear of death, Anxiety about future,

Sensitivity to noise and apathy.

A peculiar mental feature of Xantoxylum is sensation

of sinking, going down and falling. You see this

feature in the following delusions of this remedy.

MIND - DELUSIONS - bed - sinking - she is sinking -

down deep in bed

MIND - DELUSIONS - decline; is going into a

MIND - DELUSIONS - ground - soft like wool while

walking; floor is

That's why the patient even has the fear of going to

bed!

MIND - FEAR - bed - of the

The most important physical symptom of Xantoxylum is

its dysmenorrhea with severe ovarian pains. Ovarian

pains extend to back and down the thigh and are

accompanied by numbness.

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - PAIN - Ovaries - extending to -

Back

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - PAIN - Ovaries - extending to -

Groin - Hypogastrium, and

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - PAIN - Ovaries - extending to -

Limbs - down

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - PAIN - Ovaries - extending to -

Thighs - Anterior surface

EXTREMITIES - PAIN - Thigh - menses - during

It is also one of the important remedies indicated in

amenorrhea from getting feet wet (Like Pulsatilla).

Left side of the body is much more affected by

Xantoxylum.

If you do not know this remedy, you may prescribe

Sepia, Sabina, Ustilago, Gnaphalium or Arsenicum album

instead of Xan.

So! In anxious women with dysmenorrhea and severe

ovarian pains think of Xantoxylum fraxineum.

Hi Jean:
Why look at such a small remedy with so few sx? This woman has irregular, delayed menses, is finally pregnant, has felt relief with Ignatia--sounds like looking at nat-m or sepia would be in order.
Best,
Lisa

Yea ,inclined to agree but interested in exploring. The fear of something going wrong with longed for pregnancy marked. A lovely girl, gentle in manner, not needy of sympathy, not really Sepia though likes to be left alone, all memories except those of period pain seem happy . I am unwilling really to intervene with anything unless really necessary. Thanks Rochelle and sorry about spelling mistake, Jean
