The remedy is mostly indicated in women and affects
the mental sphere and menstruation.

One of its specific indications is in PMS where the
changeability of mood is the prominent feature.
Changeability of mood occurs in a short time.

There is a marked general aggravation before and
during menses.

Anger before and during menses, which may be toward
her husband and children is an important mental
symptom of this remedy. Anger is in outbursts, 'from
frustration with personal circumstances'.

'Hatred of husband'.
'Sadness about the past event'.

Any menstruational irregularities may be seen (like
too early, too late, copious).

Vivid dreams with specially pleasent and romantic
content is frequently experienced by the patient.

From the proving:

PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
In the range of physical symptoms, the areas of the body that were most
affected were the head (particularly areas of the head which are ordinarily
moist [eyes, nose, mouth, lips]), throat, stomach, female genitalia and
skin. Many suffered with HEADACHES which were commonly above or behind the
eyes, or in the occiput. Headaches in some were on waking or in the morning;
in some they came on after consumption of even a small amount of alcohol. In
the head it produced catarrhal states of the nose, with several provers
producing symptoms of the common cold during the proving. In produced
DRYNESS: of the eyes, with tiredness and aching, itching, stinging or
grittiness; of the mouth and of the lips, sometimes causing cracking of the
lips; of the throat. The dryness is sometimes accompanied by a marked
increase in thirst, especially for water or cold drinks. Several developed
MOUTH ULCERS. Many had SORE THROAT which was worse in the morning or on
waking. NAUSEA was a very common symptom, sometimes with headache or with
diarrhea, and two women commented that the nausea was the same as when they
were pregnant (which suggests its possible use in the treatment of pregnancy
sickness if other symptoms are taken into account). INCREASED THIRST was a
common symptom, especially for cold drinks, for water, and in some, for tea.
One prover developed an aversion for usual cup of coffee which she
ordinarily enjoys. URINATION INCREASED, in some cases waking at night to
urinate, in one case wakened by a dream of urination. MENSES were affected
altering the timing, the duration, the discomfort and the flow, as well as
the tendency to bloating of the abdomen and of the breasts. In some,
menstrual discomfort increased during the proving. The flow started EARLY in
some, though with one who ordinarily had a 3 week cycle, this was extended
to 4 weeks in the month following the proving. The flow seemed more PROFUSE
AND PROLONGED in some, though in one it was reduced. INCREASED PMT. Many
provers who were used to marked discomfort before and during menses reported
that many of their menstrual symptoms had improved during or following the
proving. These include mental, emotional and physical ameliorations. There
was ACHING IN MUSCLES AND JOINTS in some, with bias to the left side. Two
provers independently reported the seemingly identical symptom of aching
from the left shoulder down to the fingers of the left hand, worse evening.
There is some indication that [remedy] may be useful for pulled or strained
muscles or joints. There was a variety of SKIN ERUPTIONS on FACE, chest,
back and legs. There were often spots which were sore and painful to touch
or itchy. There was also ITCHINESS, with or without eruptions. Itchiness of
legs as of insect bites.
