Hi. According to Chinese medicine view, if a person has a problem with their eyes, with their body structure, with their liver and/or gall bladder, if they wake up each night between the hours of 11 pm and 3 am, if they are prone to anger or if they find the time of spring very challenging, they could have an imbalance of the Wood element.
The liver is the Zang (interior) organ, and the gall bladder is the Fu (exterior) organ of the wood element. The liver is the planner for all of the functions of the body and the gall bladder is the decision maker.
The power of adaptability and flexibility ( like trees ) is linked to this element. It is also very common for someone who has difficult decision to make to find themselves awake and unable to sleep until after 1 am.
( Barbara Wren )
There are two basic categories of Hun ( The spirit of Wood ) disturbances : the excess pattern and deficiency pattern. Sometimes a person will have a mixture of both. The mixed pattern most often shows up in women and often correlates with menstrual cycle ( In fact, the interaction of liver and kidneys manifests menstruation ).
In the excess pattern, people often feel angry and experience life as one injustice after another. Whichever way they turn, there seems to be a brick wall, and often inappropriately express extreme emotion.
In the deficiency pattern, people feel timid, depressed and confused. They lack emotional expression and usually too weak to even try to start a project. If they do make an attempt, they often can not get past the decision-making stage.

Subject: [Minutus] waking up 3am in the morning
I recall reading a post somewhere saying that if one keeps waking up at 3am in the morning, it has something to do with the liver.
Is this true?
