Traveling with homeopathy kits

Hello All,
I have searched a few lists and I am looking for information about traveling through airports with kits. What do you do about the xray machines? Will it harm remedies? Also I would like input on what you put into a road kit when going to a new country. I will be going from the US to India and wish to avoid taking western meds for malaria which is what they are recommending I do. Also there was mention of typhoid. Thank you for any input. I appreciate your time.

Hi Elizabeth,

Here is a small piece I wrote on what does affect remedies - the research indicates that airport x-rays are ok.

Enjoy your travels!

Hello Elizabeth,
Putting remedies in an aluminium box in hold baggage is reckoned to be protective by those who are concerned and it appears that the boxes do not trigger off bomb alerts. Heaven knows why not. I just take minimal remedies rather than whole bottles and chuck them before my return. India would be ok but other countries might be funny about mysterious white stuff anyway.
If you look on the web you can see malaria risks worldwide: just about all india is 'low risk' and prophylaxis is not particularly recommended in low risk areas. Not getting bitten is extremely sensible, though. There are other insect born bugs in many parts of the world even if malaria is low risk. There are specific areas that are medium risk, I seem to remember, but it is a question of exactly where you are going and what kind of travelling you are doing. (I think rural goa is the only area that tourists might commonly go to on the list and even then I imagine most people stick to the beach areas) No prophylaxis of any kind is 100%.
One website is Traveldoctor.co.uk.
I did an article on how homeopaths treat malaria, years ago, and have since done quite a bit of further research and drawn up my own 'risk analysis' sheet to help me decide what to recommend in various circumstances. Blanket rules and regimes don't seem a good idea in this (or any other) area of health.
I hope you have a fantastic trip - I am sure you will.
Theresa

You might check out The World Travellers' Manual of Homoeopathy by a Brit, Dr. Colin B. Lessell. I found it fascinating reading when our daughter was in Africa in the Peace Corps. She also read it. It is written from a clinical standpoint, I think you call it, a sort of using this for that diagnosis, but still very interesting. Discusses diseases I had never heard of despite years of living in Africa myself.
There is also a little book, literally fits in your pocket, by an American, Susan W. Kramer. The title is Healthy Traveler: A Handbook of Easy Solutions for Common Travel Ailments. If I remember correctly she also talked about using herbs when traveling. She has an article about using homeopathy when climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro on the National Center for Homeopathy website, which members can access. There are a number of copies available on Amazon, basically for the price of postage. Those who bought it gave it 5 stars apparently. Teresa (Northern VA)

Were tested cell phones active on a call or were they just turned on "passive" waiting for incoming?

I can tell from the intermittent brief static they generate that even in "passive" mode, cell phones send messages periodically, presumably letting the cell tower know where they are and asking for phone messages.

My habit is to carry a small "bullet box" kit of 50 rx which I stick in my pocket with my hand on it before walking thru the scanner. Of course this is a risky course of action given current paranoia. Have to make them think I am very well endowed. :)

Is that a homeopathic remedy kit in your pocket or are you
just happy to see us? :)

One other possibility, if you are ultra-cautious (as I guess I am!): some years ago I picked up a lead-lined bag from the photo dept. - they may still sell them for people who travel with undeveloped film. I put the remedies in the bag and put the bag in my carry-on baggage. Apparently the hand baggage screener can just see through the bag, but it keeps out most of the radiation. In any event, I've never been stopped or questioned, in several years of carrying my remedies in my bag. And the remedies are fine.

Also - the hand baggage screening crew at my home airport once told me that the remedies are subject to more radiation being at 32,000 feet than they get from the screening equipment!

Whilst on the topic of radiation and screening, is anyone - should anyone - be concerned at the advent of full-body screening at airports? Apparently we are getting it in the UK a.s.a.p. because of the recent bomb scare in the US.
Having done a bit of research into it, it seems that everyone is saying that the amount of radiation from either of the two techniques that have been developed for use is negligeable (where have I heard that before?!!) and therefore not a risk.
But as homeopaths we know the power of small, repeated doses, so it worries me. Friends I have spoken to about it are amazed that I would even think about it - and I am amazed at the mentality that allows them to blithely accept anything thrown at (or into) them by the 'powers that be'. They seem to believe that nobody would allow anything harmful!! They are more concerned about what will be visible under their clothes.
Am I being paranoid?
Liz.

Paranoid? No, I don't think so. We are constantly bombarded by toxicity. And even if it is true
that a particular element in tiny doses is not life threatening (killing us immediately), THEY never
research the cumulative effects of these doses, nor do they look at the chemical soup of our lives
and what that means. When I was young vaccines did not produce autism. We received 4 basic
ones over a couple of years i guess and then nothing until the polio scare when they shot you up
at school. but now with 35 mandated vaccines beginning at birth and over the first 5 yrs of life,
the rates of autism in the USA are, at best, 1:100. Last year it was 1:150. And some communities are at 1:50.
So now they want to add full body scanning to the mix. And for those who fly frequently, that can add up
in the course of a year. Add this to increasing GMO foods, drugs in human grade meats, farm raised fish
heavily chemicalized, and the list goes on.
