I don't treat colds homeopathically as I believe that a cold is the body's way to get rid of toxins!! I do advise lots of Vit C - up to 6g, Echinacea tincture and zinc (15g) which seems to shorten its life.

I do treat colds homeopathically, have found Calc, Caust and Carbo-v very helpful. Carb-v when there was a lot of sneezing. With Calc I get the feeling that something else could do the job faster, possibly Samb. If homeopathy works well, then all the generals improve too. If it's suppression, I'd expect deterioration in generals or M/E. If the old guys could and did treat colds with homeopathy I don't see why it shouldn't be done today. We're treating anything that interferes with function to achieve highest purpose right?
I agree with the Vit-C, don't agree with Echinacea (too strong I think, best to give homeopathically if symptoms indicate it). All-C and Euph could be used too, but I haven't seen them yet this season. I think Calc given at the very beginning could be the best option, but so far haven't given it fast enough...So far the colds I've seen seem to really dry out the system, possibly also room for Bry in treatment.
Update from colds in Jerusalem! Hope this helps!

I, too, hit the vit C at first signs of illness. However, I don't limit the amount to 10g. For myself if I am feeling down, 4g seems to
nip it in the bud. However, if I miss that critical point and wind up getting sick, 20g seems to be my bowle tolerance level when
sick. I have seen others go up much higher. But if you are not timid, Vit C can cut the illness within a day and finish it off pretty
quickly. I always instruct people about bowel tolerance with Vit c.

Hi,
and what do you tell to all those people arguing that more than 1 g of vitamin c is worthloss to take because you loose it via bowels?

your body only excrete what it doesn't use.
and when you are sick your body needs much more than when not sick.
the sicker you are, the more you need.
that is why you work with the bowel tolerance level to assess the body's need.
then i like to note that we need about 2-3 gr a day under normal conditions.
the fda puts out a MINIMUM daily requirement--and that is what it is, a minimal
amount that barely keeps us functioning. what we want is to build health and that
requires a lot more.

Ask them to discuss it with someone who *needs* to take much more in order to not get symptoms! I know a couple.

Hi Rochelle,
if it is a way to get rid of toxins, why do you want to shorten its life?
