Reoccurring Flu- Update

Just spoken to the patient
1) I did give her another Lach 50M Nov 10th (just checked my notes) and
2) Because of the fact that she had told me that she has had 3 lots of flu this year I decided to give Influ 200 to take when her usual Lach Sx (trembling and other mind stuff had abated) and she took one dose last Friday. It was this that immediately brought out the flu symptoms !!!!
3) Since she couldn't get hold of me yesterday she took a Nux Vom 200 yesterday - as that is what sorted her last flu, took another before sleep and another this morning.
Immediately after the first Nux Vom she started to fell better, sore throat headache, ear pain all went. The chestiness is still there but there is no cough. Her eyes ache (Nux and Lach) She feels weak and chilly unless snuggled up. Mentally she feels fed up but not weepy any more.
I have told her to monitor it and keep in touch!!

And you don't think that the Lachesis 50m repeated has anything to do with this feverish + sub acute/chronic state emerging.
Nux vomica is an antidote to Lachesis so no wonder she feels better. I think you should consider this situation carefully if this fever state is recurring, it is trying to tell you something?

Lachesis has been her Rx for many years - we started with 1M in 2001 and as you can see are now up to a 50M. The lachesis alleviates all her mental and emotional problems. She was on strong anti depressants when she first came to see me. She has a lot of stress with her family and extended family and sees me when she needs to. However I understand what you are saying and will look at compliments and similar Rx to Lach and see if any are suitable . However I hate to change a Rx that has worked so well over the years. Note that she did as she was told and didn't take the Influ 200 until she felt the Lach had sorted the M and E's at the beginning of the month. I just wonder (and so did she) in the Influ brought out the flu to get rid of it once and for all. Maybe she should have taken the dose in water rather than the dry dose that she is used to taking

An interesting situation

I wonder if the upset was simply because she took a high potency too close on the heels of another high potency? I'd have thought it better to wait *at least* 6 weeks, so they didn't interfere? (Which I guess doesn't usually happen, but definitely can.--Any chance that the Lach alone would have stopped the repeated flus? That would have been my assumption??)

Dear Joy,
Just noticed that as well as being an antidoting Rx Nux Vom is also in the Follows On Well section!!!! What we need to know is exactly what the Nux Vom antidotes. I have a book somewhere that gives the sources of the antidotes so will look this up later but have to pick husband up from the airport now!!

Hi Rochelle,
OK. So maybe this an example of what I was trying to explain to Liz. Lachesis has worked well over the years. Now, please, I am not saying this the case but the following scenario could be in place.
So many snakes and all we use is Lachesis, sometimes a Naja and rarely a crotallus or elaps. What if the patient needs a snake remedy but not Lachesis. So lach might be close and give some benefit but not be a simillimum. Then you find that the lachesis clears part of the case (maybe the pathology you are interested in) but it needs to be repeated, becuase it has not hit the core of the case. And with repetition comes - proving. And the mix up can happen that they need the remedy again for the original condition and there are also some lachesis symptoms mixed in now, so it starts to look more and more like lachesis. But, it is the (medicinal) disease state not the inner disease state that is expressing lachesis.
It's like Scholten says in The Elements about sulphur. he started looking at some of his old sulphur patients where some good was done and then saw they actually needed a sulphuricum or an element in the same group as sulphur - tellurium , selenium oxygen etc.
So, you know the case. take a fresh look and see if perhaps the kingdom is right but the species can be different. This is matbe why some remedies get a reputation for aggravating, like lachesis and like Nat mur. We don't look at other snakes and we don't look at Nat carb etc.
regards,
Paul

Dear Paul,
You may well have a point as I don't think my initial reasons 8 years ago for giving Lach are still there. I haven't heard anything about jealousy for example for a long time!! Everything is still left sided. However since she only had a Lach 50M 13 days ago I would rather let it run and when she returns to me again because it has run out, instead of going to the CM which I was going to do I will take a full case again.
I have to say I had good results with a patient years ago who after 1 dose of Lach I changed to Nana and that did the trick and I haven't seen her back as a patient for a long time but have seen her in the street to chat to recently.

But over 8 years on a rx, all high potencies? Alleviates isn't enough surely after all those years, compared to a cure. That's one thing but when an acute is trying to emerge but doesn't fully, i.e. she's had this 3 times this year, this sets alarm bells to me and suggests suppression of some kind either through medication or some other maintaining state?
Crot cas allegedly finishes the good work of Lachesis, in a curative way that is.

Dear Joy,
She does loads of Bach Flower Rx that I know of and has given me now a complete list of Vit and Minerals that she takes + EPO, Garlic, Gingko and Ginseng!!! I have suggested that she cuts out the herbs and sees if she feels any difference!!! I wouldn't have thought Bach Flower Rx would have interfered but you never know.
The 50M lasts between 5-7 months sometimes longer but she will "boost" it with a does of Lach 6 and this does work for her. We were taught this trick at college as I am sure you were. When she goes right down again it is because of something happening in her extended family again which tips her over the edge and if the lach 6 doesn't do the trick she comes running back to me!!
I will look into Crot Cascavella thanks

Hi Rochelle,
I know this is a somewhat controversial viewpoint, but I was originally taught (by my h'th, don't recall if it was mentioned in school) that, barring circumstances such as frank pathology, or very weak vital force, interfering factors, or *truly excessive* stress (and circumstances that *I* thought should qualify, he did not), a 50M "should" last way, way, way more than 6-7 months--I was told at least a year for 10M.
Maybe this is less true now than it used to be; but in the past, several times it *has* proved a useful "early warning system" for me, when a remedy seemed to be acting just great, but in the end did need to be changed. (It was eventually clear that it was acting palliatively rather than curatively.)
Which makes me think that Joy's suggestion to look at other snakes is very appropriate.
Might it be useful to see what her new "baseline" is, and compare to before she started? (Which would be a stinky process, as she'd have to let things relapse all the way...)
