Hives

Post by Rochelle »

Child age 7 has had these very itchy weals for a couple of weeks . Doctor's anti histamines are doing nothing. No obvious causation except Mum said she has been near chicken pox . Previous to this was a bad cold sore, cold cough and sore throat. Concomitants - growing pains, possible shin splints but this could be caused by the way she goes over on her feet and I have suggested orthotics. Some of the blotchy on her limbs are surrounded by a white patch. Face and eyes were swollen but not now. She is very lively, restless and has no problem sleeping. Is sleepy during the day. Does not seem to be for anything, except I noticed > when occupied.. She gets times when very itchy and times when it is not.
Last Rx that seemed to do when for this child was Ammon. Carb nearly a year ago which stopped her nosebleeds. She has had about 3 lately.
I gave her Urtica U 6c while she was with me and after 3 at 10 min intervals the itching stopped. I don't know if this is significant because it does stop and start. Mum gave her a couple in the evening. I haven't been able to contact them this morning.
Any other suggestions for this acute. I don't know if the photo in the attachment will appear for you or not!!

Yes she has had CP and got through it without Rx at the time. Mum did mention that she reacts in some way when she is near someone with CP but I can't remember exactly what she said .
Mum has tried Rhus Tox 30 on a couple of occasions with no appreciable difference- the last time was a couple of days ago.
I didn't look in her mouth - thanks for that!!
She is not acting in a Puls way at all.
I don't think the anti histamines changed the rash in any way. She is not swollen now but she was only brought to me yesterday. I saw her brother this week for a follow up and he didn't mention the rash on his sister but then all the pair of them do is fight like normal siblings!!

Actually If rash dry and a bit scaly with whitish areas could be Pityriasis Rosea which can follow viral illness. This would not respond to antihistamines. The distribution on the trunk suggests that with one large lesion which is known as the herald spot. Jean

I know how to recognise Pityriasis which is often overlooked by doctors. These don't look anything like it but good thinking!!

Thanks - I will research that one.
BTW - as Jean has now gone to bed has anyone else using Synthesis actually
got a rubric for "areola white" around a red weal.
Thanks

Thanks - I didn't know of that Rx!! I have Chlorine but this is different.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to fit any way.

I had a patient with exactly these symptoms! Rhus tox moved the case on and cleared these symptoms but she was still ill and needed further remedies. I thought in the end that she had had the dreaded swine flu with some frills. Nevertheless more or less ok by the end of the week. No chicken pox connection.

How important is that sx, they don't look like they have a white ring
to them. By the way, taking into account the cold sore and now these
eruptions could it be a case of thrush, was wondering about Borax.

There is 'eruptions, urticaria, white'. Naja has white spots on an
inflamed base. Aren't you trying too hard though :-)

Thanks Joy :-)
I now see why you asked whether I looked in the mouth!! The white areola was really around the weals on the legs and arms but those photos didn't turn out very well.
They have gone away for the weekend so will contact them again on Monday.
