Wilson's disease with symptoms

does anyone have any information or experience with this condition?
it involves the body not being able to process copper properly.
this particular young man showed several neurological symptoms
including speech difficulty. the parents are very allopathically oriented
but it would be nice to be able to direct them to something with a track
record on this.

Hi Tanya,
I see Kent has a couple of pages on this remedy in his materia medica and it is also mentioned on the following web page; http://www.homeopathywest.com/articles_timmerman_dk.htm
Good Luck

But one can't assume that cuprum will be the remedy for not processing copper properly. Definitely worth *seeing* if the case and remedy suit each other, but it may or may not be the best match, and may or may not be the one needed to really help him.

Tanya, if they're receptive to the idea of homeopathy, why not direct them to some on-line reading (and include a couple of bookseller websites in case they want to do more), maybe including homeopathic treatment of various severe neurological disorders, e.g. autism, ADD, etc.? Mention that *any* state of imbalance will be associated with imbalances in the person's chemistry, but since homeopathy aims at *holistic* rebalancing, it works from the basis of the *whole* person's state--strengths, weaknesses, differences--not on basis of diagnosis, or isolated chemical markers.

They should do some general reading, and see if they're interested in looking into it further!

It is the liver dysfunction that matters here so likely to be a liver affinity rx. Not treated this but worthy of looking at some of the 'toxicity' rubrics and if there is one for copper but as I say it is an underlying organ dysfunction that needs curing and many sx will also pertain to that.

Homeopathy needs cases like this.

What identifies it as a liver dysfunction? (I need to get more familiar with specific organ symptoms. :-( )

The liver is like a huge filter and is responsible for processing excesses such as copper so I imagine the fault lies there initially. I believe early sx are that of liver disease such as jaundice, malaise etc.

Thanks you all for the responses. I have been trying to get this family
to do other than drugs with their children. All 3 children (now late teens)
were adopted and had neurological problems from birth. Birth parents
were dysfunctional people with histories of drug use, alcohol, etc.
The children are functioning pretty well but still have the consequences
of their birth problems. For example, they were all considered classified
students in school (children with learning diabilities).
I thought /hoped that with the collective knowledge on this list, information could be
gathered that would show the parents how promising this approach would
be for healing. From these posts, it seems to me that I would need to show them
some positive cases for liver damage being cured with homeopathy. Wilson's
Disease seems to be a fairly arcane disorder.

Hi Tanya,

Is it very likely that a homeopath would *know* that a patient "had Wilson's disease"--does it present with such severe symptoms that the person would probably have a diagnosis? If not, maybe it would be more fruitful to look for cases where a similar *symptom set* (similar type of person) was treated homeopathically?

According to the parents, there are very few cases of Wilson's Disease. This
particular young person has Wilson's disease with symptoms, and even rarer
event. So whether the homeopath would know or not will depend totally on the
parents having received that dx from the medical industry. Without noticeable
symptoms, a homeopath would have no other way of knowing what was being
presented. That is my understanding right now.
