Mastitis

Post by Rochelle »

Just received this from a friend- She is breast feeding her son of 6 months

Since I have no experience of this I could do with some suggestions of what to look up!!! Have told her to take Belladonna 30 so far !!!

Thanks

30 is all she has in her kit and it's too late to send her husband out. I will see how she is tomorrow.
Thanks

A fuller case might have been useful - have you considered Phytolacca?

Yes I did and my books say Belladonna first and Phyto to clear up after if it doesn't go completely.

Rochelle - you could also look into why this has happened after 6 months of breast feeding - i.e. the emotional picture. I got acute mastitis after my mother died (wasn't breast feeding!) and Ignatia cleared it up straightaway.

That is a very valid point!! I did briefly ask but all I got was that there was a lot going on. I will have to get her in!!! Maybe tomorrow if neither of us are busy. She has recently gone back to work part time - 2 mornings a week, has returned from 4 months at her holiday house in Goa.

Bryonia 30C twice a day, is known by many to work in various presentations of mastitis – with eg., breast distended with milk, hard, indurated and not red as well as breast red, hot and inflamed.

Bell is also indicated, but 3c is listed as preferred potency.

Banerji also mentions Calc carb as being useful, however, Bryonia is considered the better choice.

Thanks , I read a little on Bryonia but didn't realise that it could be used for the red breast. Hopefully I will know more tomorrow and have suggested she comes in for a chat.

As this feeling of illness with the infection I feel is potentially serious I feel I would treat aggressively with a high potency. I have done this and almost immediately that feeling of illness vanishes. An allopathic colleague when I recently presented this option thought that was idiotically brave .
Bryonia certainly if desire to hold breast and thirsty but red and throbbing I think is a Belladonna indication. Best Wishes, Jean
