The remedy is mostly indicated in infectious states
leading to severe prostration, hemorrhage (usually
dark and clotted) and cyanosis.
The patient suffers from profound weakness with weak
and thready pulse. He/she faints frequently. There are
attacks of cold and sudden perspiration.
Main regions that are affected are mouth, throat and
larynx. Mouth is covered with ulcerations with a gray
membrane. There may be 'necrotic destruction of soft
parts of palate and fauces'. 'Laryngial diphtheria'.
It is one of the main remedies indicated in
'Diphtheria'. One of the most important accompanying
symptoms with its diphtheiras is the red discoloration
of tongue.
