C.F. female, 51 years of age.
Works in a Call Center for a large organisation. Has become very sensitive to criticism especially from co-workers who have accused her of not pulling her weight in the team. Complains of "stupid" feeling in the head, very distracted, can't maintain concentration even when reading a book at home. Has to read the same passage 10 or more times just to get the meaning of it. Family complains about her sharp temper, will suddenly fly off the handle over minor issues, and then she feels guilty and apologizes.
Chronic tinnitus which sounds like wind roaring past the ears.
Since her periods have become less regular there is a reappearance of an old eczematous eruption behind the ears and going along the hairline of the scalp to the occiput, with a moist clear discharge < scratching. After scratching, the area stings and burns, there is a "biting" feeling.
Often wakes during the night feeling very hot, as if it would result in a hot flush, but perspiration is entirely absent after heat. Externally, skin feels cold, but internally, burning up. This heat without sweat appearing symptom happens also during the day when at work or simply trying to read a book.

So, Mag pol ambo has 'absence of mind (stupid head), irresolution (not pulling weight), tendency to anger and rage, humming in the ears, heat without perspiration, burning sensations, old skin sx break out, ailments during menopause'

Hi Chris,
At the first para I would have said China or China sulph since tinnitis is a common sx of these remedies as well as of Malaria and malaria drugs! But I forgot your patient is probably not from Africa!!!

Can you confirm any of these:
-- whether your patient is sensitive to music or cries at sentimental movies?
-- whether she was 14 or over during menarche?
-- whether she's a bit on the overweight side?

Nevertheless, I would say Graphites.

Nat mur is another that has the behind ear eruption that follows the hair line - also fear of being rejected (the criticism sensitivity), absent minded, coldness of the body with feeling of heat, irregular menses, alternating emotions but too 'duty bound' to not be pulling their weight. That sx seems crucial to me.

Anacardium has that particular dullness of mind where they have to read and re read everything 'memory, weakness, loss of, for what he has just read' (quite a lot of rx), alternating moods, easily offended, biting sensation of skin (not known for tinnitus though I don't think and tends to be clammy not dry heat).

Lycopodium would have the criticism sensitivity, lack of self esteem around others, brain fatigue, roaring in ears, eruption behind ears, irritable yet sorry, dry skin (can have bad perspiration as well).

Good old Sulphur has the laziness, absent minded, angry with quick repentance, eruptions (obviously), tinnitus (suppression somewhere probably = tinnitus, eruptions, irregular menses), frequent flashes of heat with dry skin (can be very sweaty as well).

Hepar Sulphur ?

The mind separates it from Graph. But the Heat flushes without
perspiration seems bit odd for it. (lachesis has it in bold, but I
cannot suit it here in this picture)

I would probably go with Mezereum - being distracted, tinnitus with roaring, skin complaints, internal heat with external chilliness, absence of sweat etc.

Other things that could be in contention - Ars, Tuberculinum, Lyc

Oleander: Its not in internal heat remedies in my book(boeninghausen's
characteristics). But it was one of seven that had a sensation of wind blowing
on parts. So I checked each of those remedies...and there was all the other
stuff under oleander. If i'm wrong about this i'm selling all my books.

At first i thought it was ignatia which had "external chilliness with internal
heat" , roaring like a strong wind in front of ears, the generally changeable
moods, and the area itching changing after scratching(not sure about
that)..but when i went and looked in the materia medica pura i couldn't find
any of those things listed there.
