Dear Dr. Swift,

If a patient declines all conventional therapy, that's her choice. But
this patient underwent a Pap smear and was seeing a conventional
physician along with her homeopath, so it was my understanding that she
was pursuing standard diagnostic tests.

Also, I disagree that whether or not there is malignancy is irrelevant
in homeopathic prescribing. Allopathic labels may not be a major
consideration in finding a simillimum, but they do provide some helpful
information in regard to miasms and determining common versus SRP
symptoms in an individual.

Additionally, I have an ethical obligation as a physician to inform my
patients if I believe they may have an undiagnosed malignancy,
regardless of what they choose to do with the information. Homeopathy is
not 100% effective 100% of the time. People with life-threatening
conditions often require a multifaceted approach to treatment, be it
conventional or alternative.

Finally, let's not forget our recent discussion of the work of Dr.
Ramakrishnan, who has created a successful approach to homeopathic
prescribing that is tailored specifically to cancer patients.

Dear Dr. Kellman,

I did not realize this particular patient was doing conventional tests. I
usually tell my clients that if they want a "diagnosis" they need
conventional tests and I try to always give people the paths available to
them. However, I do believe there is significant risks to biopsies and I
inform them of that as well. I personally would not pursue such a diagnostic
test. In terms of homeopathy, there should be adequate other indicators in
the case of miasm(s) involved. When "homeopathy" is not "effective" is a
case, it is either because the correct remedy was not administered or the
patient is incurable. That is if the Law of Similars is a law of nature, as
Hahnemann proclaimed. Non homeopathic therapy can only be suppressive to the
disease process (according to Hahnemann, anyway. He also says that surgery
is necessary if there is an obstruction, but that is not treating the
disease.)

I was not on the list for the recent discussion of Dr. Ramakrishnan's work
but I have heard him speak. I think more attention should be paid to Dr.
Prafull Vijayakar's work with curing such diseases with single doses of
single remedies. His site is www.predictivehomeopathy.com. As Dr. Vijayakar
says, "All symptoms that disappear are not cured." That includes tumors.

In fact there are a number of situations where a tumour which is enclosed
within its own boundaries, spreads like fire after a biopsy.

Kent also says if you are going to resort to surgery (and I regard taking a
biopsy as surgery) you need to have given the homoeopathic remedy (not one
you bought from a hom pharmacy, but one that is homoeopathic to the case)
