We keep discussing, nae, arguing about a 'single, simple' remedy; what
constitutes single or simple, etc. etc and whether H said so or not. Have we not come
along a long way since H's days - 200 years ago? Or should Homeopathy
not progress? Should Homeopathy be strictly confined to the teachings of
H, nothing more and nothing less? Else it's not Homeopathy!
There are thousands of 'combos' availabe today all over the world - and
they are very effective in 'acutes'. Big homeo pharma companies market
these combinations. I have used them and find them very effective in
acute cases. No one argues whether they are 'simple, single' remedies.
For example I have a bottle called' Anti-Traumatic' medication. It contains
100g pills, all in the 200 potency, and consists of the following:
Arnica m, Hypericum p, Ledum p, Rhus t, Ruta g, Symphytum o, and Bellis p,
in equal propertions.
It is indicated as first aid for trauma, accidents, prevention of shock, in pre
and post surgery and rapid recovery fromsprains, muscular and joint pains,
fracture, back pain, etc. It is very popular here in India and is so because it
is effective and works.
Homeopaths sneer at these patent meds. for it threatens their practice.
People use it for it's off-the-shelf and they save on 'doctors fees'.

homoeopathy is a universal law .it can not changed .and what a argument? two hundred years have passed.killing a person is crime. this law is older than homoeopathy it should also be changed.the problem with these tpe of people is that they want to treat people brainlessly.off the shelf.without a dr.every one knows that homoeopathic medicines given regularly cause proving .so you are proving many medicines by giving combo. i have seen many people wrecked by combos.most of them were uncureable. my dear jeff if WORKS is the only criteria then steriods and scheduled drugs work more better than combos. so should we allow steriods harmones immunosupresents and other scheduled drugs off the shelf.why this dope test and bans on drug users .after all all this stuff WORKS.as regards acute we need to train our drs for acutes. we desprately need books on acutes.there are very few. even book written by H is not aviable. he wrote a book about acutes.but there is no need or space for this non sense like combos in homoeopathy.

The combo scene today is very different to what existed in Hahnmann's time when he was trying to stop doctor homeopaths confusing patient treatment with complex remedies and polypharmacy.

I am certainly not arguing in favour of combos but I just accept them now as a fact of life - not particularly good but not especially bad. The horse has bolted and it is now too late to close the gate so why not turn them to an advantage.

Combos are terrific for exposing people to 'homeopathy' even though we know that at best they are only a 'fingers crossed' approach to homeopathy.

I have more people interested in and talking about homeopathy because of combos than I know what to do with. All that has to be done is to correctly educate people about them.

I tell them that if the complex works it was because the needed remedy was in the mix - isn't that great - homeopathy does work - don't just palliate the problem - see a practitioner for deeper treatment so the problem can be removed completely.

If the complex doesn't help, I tell them, 'See - the needed remedy wasn't in the mix - go and see a homeopath to find the correct remedy and have the problem treated properly."

I also speak of complexes of potentised remedies that are trying to trigger the homeopathic effect, rather than call them homeopathic remedies.

This approach works well for me and has led to many, many more people coming to see me or practitioners around me than it has ever prevented.

Can you imagine the constant education / advertising that is taking place as they look at all those combos on the shelves and remember what I have said?

Have you seen their excitement when they report to you that a combo has produced magical results for a particular problem - and then have you seen how, one by one, they bring their family in, because they know that homeopathy works but the explained limitations of combos have become apparent to them?

This sort of approach meets people where they are at and increases their understanding of homeopathy. In contrast, dire warnings and horror stories just confuses them because while they may not say as much to us, they are well aware that these dreadful things have not happened to their friends and family members who have used them.

In many ways I think well-explained combos are the best thing since sliced bread for building homeopathic awareness and a practice - they are just sub-standard tools for practitioners to use.
