Hi,
What is the loweat - yet safe - potency of Strophanthus hispidus?
(it is to be used to treat an old patient with a heart problem wirh oedema of the feet).

Hello Rafy,
There are a couple of books in circulation from Indian researchers that outline what are the safest/lowest potencies for many of our more poisonous substances/rx's. I am thinking that you would not want to go below 10x considering that g-strophanthin is a pretty serious cardiac glycoside capable of almost immediate myocardial infarction. I say 12 x because I remember thumbing through one of these books years ago and putting to memory that nothing seriously poisonous should never be given under 10x. So if your pt is already suffering a given pathology with regards to their heart, I would discern your posology plan with great care.
