Organon 6 - Aph 2

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

§ 2

The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of the health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable, and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles.

Ah -- "easily comprehensible principles" -- there's one difference between homoeopathy and all the other opathies. Nothing is more easily comprehensible, unless you're compelled to make it so, is it, than the supreme ability of one substance to mimic the symptoms of the patient?

But "in the... most reliable... way" may trump even that. We all enjoy a certainty about one thing: that if the remedy is not being inactivated or antidoted and its potency isn't far too low for the patient, then, if it fails to stimulate a curative reaction, it's not because homoeopathy isn't reliable but because we haven't been reliable in obtaining and correctly comparing symptoms. And that can only be a good thing to be certain of, I think.

Cheers --
