Cat bite first aid - was The campaign against spring fever, and a better alternative

Ledum, Hypericum, Calendula, Lachesis.
I use it topical immediately as well as by mouth as needed.

How I see it:
Ledum - main remedy here, and prevents tetanus and swelling.
Hypdericum - also prevents tetanus and helps pain
Calendula - stops bleeding, helps regranulation of bitten area skin,
prevents scarring, and prevents infection
Lachesis - matches some bites more than others, but worth including
due to hassles when left out; especially useful if a blood vessel is
hit by the bite or the bite introduces something weird as easily
occurs with cats.

If you act fast enough one dose may be all you need, as in my last
bite (3 holes) on my hand on Wed.
.....I carried on knitting right after.
I had all four rems already made up aqueous in 200C. Sometimes 30C is
enough (shallow bite) but not worth the risk as if you underdose it
will get infected.
If in a hurry I use them however they come, fast timing being better
than slow preparation.

If you do not dose enough it can also lead to infection. My last bite
was shallow, one dose is all I needed by mouth and two topical
several minutes apart. A deep bite needs greater potency generally.
If you dose too little or use too low potency, then infection can
occur, and you will feel pain at the site, maybe swelling, and more
symptoms. I'd then add in Pyrogenium 1M to help the "blood
poisoning" (or a simillimum if you prefer but I use Pyrog) - however
fast action can prevent the problem altogether.
(I have had a lot of experience with cat bites apart from a current
cat who bites when I leave him - as they are a regular occurrence at
weekly cat shows where I used to supply homeopathy for them as
needed. The only person who did not use it, one of the judges, was in
hospital more than a week.....)

please explain further:
you have all 4 remedies in the waiting.
are you saying you take all at once?
one at a time? one right after the other?
any time lapse between the remedies?

Hi Tanya,

I used to space them by 5 mins but I no longer do that as I have
found that the ragte of infection is least when they are given right
away, so I have them prepared separately and a small bottle of them
mixed.
I apply the mixed one topically and by mouth immediately.

After that I dose according to what's needed.
It will always include ledum, but again it is safer to include too
many than to exclude a needed one.
Severe bites will get all the rems till they calm down.
It is a "what is best for the individual" situaiotn - and so I do not
want the very serious consequences that accompany a cat bite when
there is no homeopahty. Cat bites are about the worst technically
nontoxic bite to get. For whatever reason cats carry the most awful
mix of bacterial blood poisoning horrors on their teeth.

Later or if I feel a severe bite needs something specific, I'll
adjust the protocol accordingly.
Like the one time I had a fairly major vessel punctured in my thumb
area or rather the vessel was ripped - I went to a more specific
approach and used Calendula tincture and a pressure bandage to stop
the bleeding topically.
And since that was also obviously bacterial injection of a large shot
into the blood stream, I added in still another remedy - Pyrogenium
200C - to prevent the damage that can occur with such a "bacterial
injection" directly into the blood stream.
Other times like last week, one dose of the mix topical and oral, was
all that was needed to control the bite and prevent further symptoms.
That is the ideal situation:-)

So I do individualize, and dose what seems most needed..... If there
is tendency to swelling I dose the ledum more often etc.
BUT - My main purpose is to PREVENT swelling, pain and damage, not to
overcome it after it occurs. To prevent, one needs to dose what I
call "aggressively" - meaning more doses of more remedies is better
than less doses that allow problems to develop.

I feel - It is no fun for the bitten person to let them get horrible
symptoms and only then address the horrid situation - it's like
running to close the stable door after the horse has bolted. I'm all
for getting the door closed before it bolts so there is no running
around needed to catch the horse....
Sometimes that is what you have to do though - when a person comes to
you with symptoms already well developed. But where possible - and
then you need more specificity, more potency and more doses - so
prevention is a far bettter approach and homeopathy is wonderful for
that.

It's why I called this "first aid" for cat bites.
Hope that answers?
Namaste,
Irene

Why not add at least another 10 rx to the list and take them as well, just to be sure. Gunpowder, Myris, one or two of the Mercs, some Melaleuca, throw in the known constitutional rx and of course never bother taking the case.

What works for you might cause undue confusion in another - your advice (which is what it becomes) should carry a health warning
Poor old vital force.

if you get infected so quickly and it happens so often this susceptibility is easily treated by taking the chronic case.

I suggest you consult with a good homeopath.

Infected so quickly?
I don't get infected quickly as I use homeopathy quickly instead to
prevent it:-)

You did not read my post too well Joy.
I described my frequent use of remedies for cat bites at cat shows
(where I was not bitten).

My current illness (for which I have a great homeopath or I'd not be
here 11 yrs later against all allopathic projections or past records
for the illness) does cause me to have a very thin and damaged skin
(easily punctured) and also a blocked immune system - so I am
sometimes punctured unintentionally by my strong kitty who "grips"
me enthusiastically with his teeth to tell me to stay with him longer
- and the discomfort lasts as many seconds as it takes to apply
remedy, so I see no problem thanks.

Read and understood it perfectly well thank you. And if you've now decided to imply that you don't tend to get infected then why bother with all the rx. How strange to treat a non existent susceptibility. But then on the other hand you will change your mind soon enough and tell another tale.

I do know what I am talking about, have treated several cat bites and will again if asked, treated quite a lot of animal bites actually so no need to adjourn a discussion about bites just because you suggest it.

Collective noses bother you more than home brew homeopathy it seems, although there are no collective noses, just your perception of them.
