Arnica is officially OK

At last, (and not before time); it certainly has been used in some private hospitals for several years, in the post-operative care of patients.
I know that there is a pharmacist/homeopath working at the MHPRA. I wonder what Dr Ernst will say about this one? Or will he just choose to keep quiet? Please pass it on.

Best wishes, Grace

Homeopathic remedy approved to treat sprains

20 May 2009

Much to the anger of conventional medicine, the homeopathic remedy Arnica has been officially recognised as a successful remedy for treating sprains and bruises.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHPRA) has registered the product, which means that the manufacturer can now make claims for its effectiveness.

Arnica 30c, manufactured by Nelsons, is the first homeopathic remedy to be recognised without going through clinical trials. Since 1971, homeopathic products have not been allowed to make any health claim without proper evidence.

But new rules, introduced in 2006, allow a manufacturer to make health claims for a product provided there is a tradition for its use in the UK, and it is for the treatment only of minor problems.

I don't really think this is whoo hoo moment at all. I would be concerned about how it was actually prescribed - you will get over dosing and harm could come of it, routine use etc. nelson rx bottles often come with the advice to take 2 tabs three times daily and all that sort of rubbish. All depends on who is doing the prescribing.

Just to confirm the efficacy of Arnica :) Not that it needs it. But here goes. Yesterday a visiting 4 year old was stepped on the foot by a 2000 pound Horse - don't ask - the Mother who owns the Horse brought her to me I gave her Arnica 30C dry dose, ice pack and had her sit for a little while after 5 minutes the little girl was up and about and we put the shoe back on - No pain what so ever - toe was getting blue but - today no swelling or blue. That is what Arnica can do.:)

Dr (Prof?) Ernst did a trial a few years back with Arnica where patients were given doses of Arnica for 10 day before and after the procedure.
I wrote to him and asked him to advise the name of the person who had advised them to use Arnica in such a manner. He of course did not have the courtesy of a reply.
The man is highly paid fool! (I apologise for insulting fools!)
