Minutus

Patient who had vulva cancer 8 years ago found it again recently. She had another operation 2 weeks ago (Gave her Lyco - her constitutional 2 weeks before op + the usual Arnica, Calen 3/Bellis 6 which she had stopped taking- but last Friday it started weeping more with soreness in the back. There is a line which feels hard where the drain was inserted all the way around to the rectum area. By Sunday pale yellow discharge, no real smell, had to get up twice in the night because she was so wet down there. also thought that maybe she had a bit of a fever that night. Never thought of homeopathy for it and got antibiotics on Monday. She phoned today because it was no better . I have given Silica 200 because of lack of real pain there, and the mention of fistulas in Clarke. Was also thinking Hepar and gunpowder. Says it feels so hard as if some of the tube is still there - but I don't reckon that is possible.
Mental state as cheerful and optimistic as usual.
Thoughts anyone re Rx if the Silica doesn't help??

The drains can cause a lot of problems to neighbouring organs and I was wondering if the bladder had been touched and this is what is causing the wetness in that region - you have mentioned some really useful rx but what about Calendula. It seems a post operative rx might be called for - Staph even? Joy

Staph is not needed because of the way she is about the op. This one wasn't as extensive as the last one. We don't now as yet if the cancer was again contained or if she will have to go down the radio/chemo route.
I would worry about giving Calendula and even wondered if the Calendula she took after the op caused the wound to close with the infection in it. There is obviously an infection in there now and I am hoping that the Silica 200 aborts it.
She is in no pain except discomfort when she sits because of the hard line where the drain was. This wasn't there originally so it has become hard. Scar tissue or liquid there?
I think she would know if the wetness was from the bladder- I would imagine cystitis type irritation if it was and I did ask.

I don't know why Calendula would have reacted adversely. I was just wondering if she had a catheter or even the drain suspending the feelings in the bladder and you can't tell if you are weeing or not sometimes people get that post op, but if the wet is from the wound discharge that would be easier to settle. Other 'foreign body' sensations would include causticum in the region. As you say scar tissue so your choice of Silicea would be spot on. if the hard feeling remains after infection cured there is Thios to think about.

She used Thios years ago. Then the problem was that a cataract op was failing in that it had started to go cloudy again and she wanted to prevent having it done again. The Thios definitely improved her sight for a while with 6c daily and then going up to 12c but eventually she had to have it done again.
Will let the list know when I hear how the Silica has done. I asked her to phone me tomorrow.
