Patient who has done well on Lyco. last Rx was Sulphur 200 - 3 months ago.

New symptom - Gets constant dull headaches on forehead which begin about 2
pm and end 6 pm. > occupation. Although he passes a stool (normal) in the
morning on waking - but later than he was since the Sulphur)( sometimes a
sputtery second one OS) by lunchtime he feels "clogged up" and feels he
needs to go to the toilet . Feels "bunged up down there" and doesn't want to
force it as he can lose a bit of blood as from haemorrhoids. He feels as if
the headaches are connected with the bunged up feeling.

All I can rep out is Aloe. Any other ideas please?
Regards, Rochelle

Help with patient please?

Thanks for introducing me to this remedy. I have researched it in the MM on
CaraPro and what I don't see in this remedy is connection between the
headaches and the stool which is what the patient is telling me. The rubrics
I have used are Headache , cause , constipation as that is the impression
the patient is giving by saying that he feels there is a stool there ,
blocking the rectum. Although I am using forehead, headache afternoon and
headache, dull + the sputtering. Do you have any practical experience
/clinical evidence of it in a similar case?

Rochelle,

Any physical generals? Thirst, thermal reactions, food desires?

If he was not constipated before and is now, I would be concerned we are
moving the wrong way. Excretory passages must be functioning well for
healing to occur. Soroush mentioned Abrot. which is a major remedy for pains
after suppressed bowel movements/diarrhea. So if the constipation is a new
symptom, abrot. may be right on target.

Dear Russell,
Thank you for your reply. I am just concerned that in the provings I can;t
find any reference to the headache that he is complaining about. This
patient first came to see me 2 years ago after an operation to remove a
colon cancer. The only constipation in his case history I can find is
"sometimes before the bowel op) . Since the removal of the cancer he had a
twisted bowel and he had another op when 8 inches where cut out. It was at
this point he came to me as a very weak man with his bowels working but an
upset stomach. basically he has done very well on Lycopodium and gained all
the weight he lost. We gradually went up to Lyco 1M the last dose being
Oct.01. I gave him Sulphur in Dec. (See post below for the reasons.) I am
now thinking that maybe I should return to the Lycopodium. I would much
appreciate your comments.

Dear Rochelle, of course there is Head, pain at 2pm; + Head, pain periodic,
every day at the same hour; - I note that Kali Bich is in this rubric. This
rx has an affinity with headaches that have a gastric connection. Related to
Aloe

Also (though not rep.) these gastric sx make me think of Anacardium - the
sensation of being plugged up all over the body especially the bowels. It
has a number of similarities with Lyco as well.

As there has been a cancer in the region of the bowels I would be looking at
Ruta Grav. maybe (+ other bowel cancer Rx)

Hope this helps, best wishes, Joy

Rochelle,

I would not be concerned if the HA is not in the proving. I would be more
interested in physical generals, concomitants, ailments from, etc. Is the
2-6 pm a firm time modality or is there something else going on at that time
of day that might be related, e.g. drinking tea, etc? I still don't see in
the post why the lyc was changed. What is the man's nature like,
dictatorial? timid? etc.

Dear Russell,
Quite right I haven't written why I changed to Sulphur!!

Reasons were New Symptom of itchy skin all over , not feeling the cold like
he usually does, excessive hunger at 11am and forced out of bed at 6am for a
stool!!! I think you will agree there was enough for Sulphur there and
thinking of the "SCaLy" triad it follows well from Lyco.

My dilemma now is whether to treat this latest New Symptom with Abrot or
Aloe at just a physical level or return to the Lycopodium.

Personality wise I can see him being dictatorial at work. He is a workaholic
who comes up with lots of ideas but doesn't always put them into practice
(Sulph) because he doesn't have the guts (Lyco) to do so. He is proactive
and doesn't tolerate fools lightly (Lyco) A very confident man who when I
first met him barged into my consulting room without me showing him in!! He
didn't marry until late and just a little thing he is constantly touching
his nose (Lyco). At this time he felt the cold.

Comments much appreciated and I obtained some Abrot in 6 and 30 today in
case you and others still thought that would be a good Rx!!

Rochelle
