We're slowly getting used to our new surroundings-- the US South is quite different from the NW.
My daughter (healthy, 10 yrs) has come in contact with what I'm told is poison ivy. It's on her left ankle.
We've tried the Tecnu (with grindelia robusta, 3X). We've also put a wrap of witch hazel on this. Both of these, she's said, have helped sooth the itchiness.
I've also given her 3 doses now of Rhus T, 30C.
This morning the redness was down significantly. She says the itchiness still comes in short bursts. It's also getting a slight purplish hue.
What I find interesting in this, too, is that she says it hurts to walk on that foot. She says it feels like a muscle's being pulled whenever she puts weight on it.
I've never dealt with poison ivy before.

I would appreciate any further recommendations!

as a big sufferer of poison ivy, i can say poor daughter!
joel kreisberg did a treatise on treating pi, po and ps with homepathy.
it is an inexpensive book ($10 when i bought it). there are many pi remedies
depending on the symptoms, as typical with homeopathy. if the rhus tox works,
so be it. if not, explore the case further.
you need to look at all the symptoms: what makes her better/worse, time, location of
outbreak, etc. rhus tox feels better with hot water on the outbreak. other rx like cold
applications.
there are remedies that have the symptom of skin feeling tight, like leather. perhaps
that is what is happening with your daughter causing the pain on walking.
i have used ledum and sulphur with other people on pi. for myself, it took a few yrs of
trial and error before rhus ven was suggested. for me it works pretty well. it is a much
more virulent poison than rhus tox, but in the same vein of symptoms.
a list of some of the major pi remedies includes sulphur, rhus tox, graphites, anacardium,
crot t, and rhus d. there are 44 remedies under rhus poisoning in my radar program.

I would be watchful of her proving the Rhus tox, especially with the new sx of feeling as if the muscle is being pulled. Just a thought.

Thank you to all who wrote here and to me privately.

Thankfully, my daughter's case wasn't that bad-- and we caught it early. It's now already diminishing significantly, and the itching is almost non-existent.

I've made a lot of good notes here that I'll keep for future reference, for as long as we're down here!
