ACUTE RMEDIES: Bleeding

I am new to this group and looking for an opportunity to discuss remedies.

In particular, I'd really like to learn about acute remedies for emergency situations. Bleeding is a problem I've encountered with a number of family pets over the years, so it seems like a good place to start.

I've found a number of online resources about homeopathic remedies for bleeding, but none of them agree (in fact, they actually disagree strongly), and the remedy pictures they off simply aren't clear enough for a lay-person to grasp. I fully understand there may be 40 different remedies that could apply to issues of bleeding, but I'm trying to come up with a few viable choices for my emergency kit.

The scenarios I've encountered personally with pets in the past have been somewhat straightforward. I had a couple of pets who were injured by blunt traumas (hit by a car, fell from a high place and hit the ground with great force) and there was internal bleeding. Another of my cats suffered a bad cut on his leg that bled profusely. I also had a another cat who was injured in a fight and began going into shock while bleeding.

One of the resources I found online suggested that Arnica 30C is a good choice for any bleeding caused by a blunt trauma or impact, and the author suggested that Aconite 30C could also be added if the animal appears to be in shock. For internal or profuse bleeding, they suggested Phosphorous 30C. Can anyone offer opinions about thee choices? Does anyone in the group here have their own thoughts about acute remedies for these situations?

I'd really welcome a chance to discuss this. All replies would be appreciated.

Melody

Doesn't add much to what you know already, Melody, but my husband once dropped a radiator on a chicken (by mistake) and I thought she was dead. She twitched and I gave her an Arnica 30. Next feed time she beat the others to the trough, albeit limping.

Hi Melody,

I'll try some quick thoughts:
What disagreements are you noticing? It's true there are different
"schools", and also there are different situations...
Arnica is a standard, and usually useful, starting point for severe
physical trauma. From there, you repeat Arnica as long as it seems to
be working (and it takes some experience to see what you should expect
of "working"), and if insufficient, change the remedy according to the
new symptom picture. (And from there we get into the rest of "the
book"!) Potency--I find high potency quicker acting and more decisive
for severe trauma (at least 200 for the situation you describe?), but
others I think would use low potency, so perhaps they'll comment.
I'd need more... You wouldn't prescribe just on "bleeding profusely",
but would also use the cat's apparent state of mind, behavior, etc.
Possibly phosphorus, but possibly something else... Also, if an artery
was cut, I think you'd need *physical* intervention--tournequet,
bandage, etc.--before remedy.
Arnica and/or Aconite. Both are important "shock remedies", more apt
to be Aconite if associated with terror, but if uncertain I'd
(probably) begin with Arnica, and again would prefer high potency.

Arnica also handles shock, physical and emotional, but if associated
with intense fear, Aconite might indeed be needed.
In any specific case, it's useful to have as much information as can be
gleaned, esp. regarding the animal's appearance and behavior. But
acute prescribing is much more straightforward than chronic. One good
starting point might be to simply buy (or at least get a list of the
remedies in) a prepared acute prescribing kit (e.g. see the websites I
listed above for books), then begin reading carefully thru *both* the
indications provided with the kit (if you've bought it) *and* as much
other materia medica as you can manage; on-line sites would be a fine
place to do some of that. But books are just excellent--do include
some real books in your studies!!

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Shannon

Shannon,

I'm truly grateful for your replies to my posts and your willingness to discuss these topics with me. To aid the process, I'm going to back up and pose more specific questions that aren't quite so broad.

Dear Melody
Salaam (Hi in Farsi)

Thank you so much for joining us in our group.

I have been practising Homeopathy for less than a year as a general physician. Both groups of disorders have been in my field of practice. Arnica 30 c is a very good remedy in post surgical healings, hematomes after breast cancer surgery mastectomy.

As you know Arnica is the first remedy in general traumas. In any kind of trauma it should be given first. In adults 2 drops and then shaken 10 times. We should observe the patient and repeat the same dose every 10 minutes till the bleeding stops. It can be repeated 6 times. Shaking should be repeated to prevent aggravation.
Best Wishes,
Dr Sadeghi

But don't just stop at the routine Arnica at the expense of other rx that could be the true simillimum - prescribe on the sx. Remember Millfolium for bleeding due to trauma such as falling from a height (heavy impact); and Hamamelis where the bleeding is passive and there has been an injury with wounds; Bellis per for internal injuries and wounds, bruising, is venous stasis; Strontium has haemorrhages from injuries; Calendula also + others.

There is a rubric 'bleeding, from traumatism' but I am not sure if there are all the rx present that should be.
