What exactly is Lucoses iodine. The stuff I bought today is :-
iodine BP 2.5% w/v potassium iodide BP 2.5 w/v alcohol 89% v/v and purified water.
I have no idea what the w/v and v/v means!! I decided to try it on a deep scrape I did a week ago after reading about putting it on the scab and it will heal from inside without scarring!!

Sounds like the person writing the label migh have had a hearing problem - but Wikipedia says

Lugol's solution consists of 5 g iodine (I2) and 10 g potassium iodide (KI) mixed with 85 ml distilled water , to make a brown solution with a total iodine content of 130 mg/mL. Potassium iodide renders the elementary iodine soluble in water through the formation of the I3- ion. It is not to be confused with simple tincture of iodine solutions, which consist of elemental iodine dissolved in alcohol. Lugol's solution contains no alcohol.

so it is a slightly different concentration - so maybe it's an own brand type of mixture. It doesn't even google.
