meds again - montelukast/singulair

Meds again - there's an FDA warning on medline drugs about montelukast (Singulair), asthma medication. The warning says that there's a possibility that it affects behaviour, especially in children, to the level of suicidal thoughts.

I have a young px who is considered hyper by his environment, although he's doing well at school. He's been receiving Singulair daily for several years. I think it could be a contributing factor, his doc thinks not (surprise surprise). He's being doing well so far on Phos, gradually coming off inhalers (Ventolin et al), but I think it will only be possible to truly assess the hyper once he comes off Singulair. I also think the Phos could address the hyper, but don't want to raise dose till there's more clarity around the Singulair.

Anyone come across this kind of issue? Does anyone know more about the FDA warning?
