Physical problem

Basically I give up with this one!!
PC - anxiety/depression/lack of energy/headaches/cystitis all cured with Arg Nit 1M and then Sepia 200- first saw her in July 08. We are left with something she had originally, never even mentioned then and was using cortisone cream to control but hasn't used for ages now.
It is an itch just inside the left ear. It is flaky as she can sometimes get white flakes out with her finger I have looked and I can't see a thing. She calls it crusty. never bleeds, no discharge, no smell "I sometimes wish I had a pain as I could take something for that ". The itch is really irritating to her. "It drives me nuts" Sometimes she gets a sudden dull pain right inside.
I have tried repeating the Sepia 200 as it does have left ear symptoms but nothing. Can't find another remedy really. Am afraid to up to 1M as don't want to bring the M and E's back and it is a physical problem.
Today I gave her Sulph 6 - tds 3days to try. If that doesn't work to try Silica 6 and if that doesn't work Mez 6 all tds 6 days. This is not how I like to work but I'm flummoxed.
Any clinical tips for an itchy, crusty, flaky left ear- but just inside??

Just fer the heckuvit :-) there's "Ear, itching, left, with pain in
ear", containing only phyll-a (whatever *that* is) ?? It would be
awesome if it has any similarity to arg-n and/or sepia, but I'm not
going to look now. :-)

Other than that, what about going down with the sepia, maybe try 6c
before giving up on it??

Thanks Jean. I looked at Psorinum and rejected it. It seemed to have too much about discharges which she doesn't have with it. I didn't think of Baccillinum!! :-) I'll give it a look.

Based on your description - I might consider a little more detective
work into the physical aspects (which may be a maintaining cause). I
had a similar case where changing bed pillows the problem went away -
which could be the cover, detergent, stuffing or simply lack of air
flow to the tissue. Had another case where the individual responded
very well to adding a better balance of oils in the diet (the dry
skin/white flakes was the clue in that case). In many cases I have
found a simple oil (sesame was the one used most often) on a Q tip
relieved the irritating itch and got them off the cortisone - which
never fails to have nasty side effects. Also had one case resolve
when using cell salts for something else entirely (on acute basis).

Thanks Donna. I will suggest the changing pillows one. She has tried oil, chamomile and Verbascum. I could still see a lot of wax in her ear despite her saying she used Verbascum oil daily. I gave her as sample of Aveeno (oatmilk) lotion for sensitive and dry skin to try. I agree that if she can keep it moisturised it should really help. Any chance you can remember which cell salt helped the problem and I can research into it?

Arg Metallicum - has ear, itching, concha. (as does Spig, Agar, Chel, Calc, and Sulph) Maybe the Arg-nit was close but Arg Met is closer?
Also...
Ear, eruptions, concha, crusts: Nat-p, Mur-ac.
HIH!

Maybe Erica!! Another one to read the MM of in Clarke. I always look at Clarke for specifics as I feel he is the most detailed.

Hey Rochelle, if I could put in a pitch for keeping on with remedies--
I would see this as *either* something "peeking thru" from another
"layer" (if one believes in layers :-) ), or as a symptom that
remains because the prior one(s) were not quite sufficient--either due
to "not quite right" remedy, or potency. Taking it as now a "one-sided
case", why not do what Hahnemann directed for them--choose the "best
suited" (er, that would mean "make your best guess") and see what comes
of it?
