this and that

a few things on my mind: 1) it used to be said that the only thing that was
taboo about incest was talking about it. because of all the brave women
incest survivors who began this work and men incest survivors now doing the
same thing, that is not true anymore. 2)a point of clarification: alice
walker said that when she was talking, the only thing she wanted white men
to say was, "i am listening." borrowing from alice walker, sheila parks
said, when i am talking about MY BODY the only thing i want men of any color
to say is, "i am listening." 3)yes, soroush, and others too, although you
are the only one who asked,i think you are extraordinarily dismissive of
women who dare to disagree with you. fritz perls said, behind every
question there is a statement. i feel you are asking your cutesy questions
so you can catch us in some kind of trap you have set in your mind. that you
are not looking for information. 4)through the window of abortion, we have
been talking a lot about women. i would like to talk a little about men. i
am talking about white men in the usa, all classes: an archtype? men
don't/can't/won't cry. are not in touch with their feelings. cannot
express their feelings, except anger and rage. have their self worth rest
in (the size of) their wallet and penis. cannot not be in a relationship for
more than 10 minutes. these are time-honored feminist analyses. as lynn
said earlier, the patriarchy harms not only women, but men too. as far as i
can see, the patriarchy is killing us all - including the planet. sheila
