Dear All,
I have a woman coming in tomorrow who came off this now banned anti depressant drug 3 years ago and is still getting side effects. She has resisted the temptation to have alternative anti depressants. Apparently she has to walk with a stick because it has affected her balance.
Question is - do I think about Seroxat in potency as a first line of attack or as the last line of attack if nothing else works. My gut instinct says as a last line of attack but I am interested to know what others would/have do/done.

Hello Rochelle,

I've worked with many people with nasty side effects of the anti-
depressant drugs, but never yet considered using the drug in
potency. The damage is usually deep and intertwined in the reason
they were put on anti-depressants in the first place - but thus far
using the classic case taking/repping/analysis has worked well. I
will be very interested to hear the experiences of this community on
that subject.

One thing I did find consistently was that the anti depressants
agressively strip nutrients. I don't have any information at present
on the particular nutrients documented to be stripped by Seroxat -
but most anti depressants strip the B vitamins first - hence the very
frequent problems with the nervous system and balance. As part of
taking this case, consider listening for symptoms associated with
nutrient deficiencies as there is a good chance this will be a
maintaining cause in working with this case.

Rochelle, I think your question is interesting. I've never actually used drugs in potency when it's been obvious that a drug is a proximate cause of some symptoms. I'd really be interested to know if someone has, and what the results have been.

Maybe it would be helpful for your repertorization to distinguish what could be her constitutional issues from what side effects this drug can cause since "withdrawal can cause symptoms to re-emerge for very long periods of time." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paroxetine There are many physical and emotional side effects that could also have been present before her having used the drug and/or could have been enhanced by having used the drug.

I do this most of the time.
Any drug has 2 aspects when looking at side-effects: the chemical and the energetic.
The chemical SE, like nutrient depletion as was already written, or enzyme blockage as happens with statins, are best addressed by nutritional and supplemental means, sometimes targeted remedies (herbal or homeopathic) that compensate or reverse the organic malfunction.
The energetic aspect means that there is a "legacy" of the drug; those molecules have been diluted in the blood stream and through the circulation sort of "succussed"; in turn they have an energetic action on receptors as Prof Quemoun has demonstrated with potentised nicotine blocking the nicotine receptors in the brain (unfortunately he did not publish his research and has never answered my letters to send me the material).
By giving the potentised drug, we simply lift the blockages, the energetic effects of the drug; it is "removing the obstacles to cure"; then the real picture, with real damage, emerges and it becomes easier to find the appropriate remedy.
I found out in my practice that the longer the drug has been taken and the more severe the SE, the more this Isotherapic/tautopathic technique is needed. I have successfully treated patients with the indicated remedy without resorting to isotherapy, but most of them, if memory serves well, were patients wanting to get rid of the drugs and their disease. Almost every time I was confronted with severe SE, I had to resort to giving the potentised drug, along with organ repair and drainage.

Hi,

I have used Seroxat in potency many times with good results, where the drug has left so
many side-effects, and where the hom. picture is not clear.
Seroxat, as far as I know, also strips off minerals, especially the trace ones, so I
recommend a good combination of minerals.

This woman said that she took it who 8 years and came off it 3 years ago. It is the withdrawal symptoms (whatever they may be) that she hasn't got over. She didn't mention side effects. I am seeing her tomorrow. It may well be that these withdrawal symptoms are what she was prescribed the drug for in the first place as I think someone suggested.
I will report back after I see her tomorrow.

Thanks Grace. I have a BNF so will be able to check what she says against the side effects stated in the book. How do you prescribe it- what potency?

That's interesting and ironic, since insufficient B vitamins is one of
the (apparently) common causes of depression in the first place. (Tho
not just *any* ol' B vitamins...)
