Update- No rx is coming to me from this case

I gave this child Calc and a couple of the Molluscum have gone but Mum thinks there are 2 little ones starting down on her left wrist. She is now nowhere near as timid with other people and doesn't cry for her mum if mum is upstairs. However she has developed a typical Calc constipation with a sticky stool so I don't want to repeat the remedy. She presented this time completely differently as a much quieter chid but as explained below Mum couldn't believe what she was like with me last time.
Despite the fact I had predecided to give Puls this time which I think I discussed with you before and Rosemary suggested Nit Ac I decided to give Sulph 30 in the hopes that I can stop the constipation symptoms which have arisen. Mum gave her 1 Calc 30 weekly whereas I only asked her to repeat it once after a week (total 3 pillules in all )when not a lot had happened!!
What would you have done?

Dear Rochelle
It sounds to me as if the molluscum is following the laws of cure - from the armpit to the wrist is the right direction.
I would wait and see - and not change a remedy that is working.

Thanks Liz and I can understand what you are saying but I have had a lot of molluscum cases and if there are new molluscum that emerge after I have given a remedy I reckon it is not the correct one. Also in this particular case the Calc does seem to have brought about some pleasing changes in the child's personality re she is not so fearful in new company or going into school and doesn't fret if her mother is out of her sight in the house. However the constipation is uncomfortable for the child and I really would like to antidote this new symptom brought on by the Calc which is why I have gone for Sulph in the hopes it will antidote this.

If the constipation was caused by *overdosing* (I think you said the
mum had given multiple doses?), then wouldn't it make sense to wait it
out rather than antidote? Usually magnesium works well for
constipation (e.g. magnesium citrate, start with 250 mg per day, can go
up quite a bit if needed). Or figs, prunes, etc.? It seems like
antidoting puts you back to square one...?

Mum has been doing the prunes etc with no luck. I also told mum about another Mum who found that 1 spoon of baked beans a day did the trick (Sulphur was the Rx that sorted it and got rid of the child's molluscum!!)
We are talking about a child here age 4 who I don't want to get into the state of holding back a stool because it is too large and may hurt. I have seen too many of these!! Sulphur is usually the remedy!!

Check magnesium deficiency - it is SUCH a common cause of constipation.
Easy to test - if magnesium fixes it.....

And if yes - figure why Mg is short.

Thanks for that gem. I told mum to phone me after a few days to check if all is going well. How much would be needed for a child? I think we can only get it in tablets that would have to be swallowed.

Firstly, do not use magnesium which damages pH such as magnesium
oxide or Milk of magnesia. It can stop the constipation but with
other ill effects instead.

I suggest either magnesium chloride (as in Magdelay) or Magnesium
gluconate (eg Magonate) - both OTC at any pharmacy, though they may
not have it in stock and may need to take a day to get it.

Gluconate tabs have only 30mg of elemental Mg and chloride only has
64 mg.
(Oxide often has 200 or 300mg)

How much is needed is individual, and you can use both chloride
(absorbs over 8 hrs) and/or magonate (absorbs in an hour).
Magonate does come in liquid, but the bottle is full of sorbitol, and
needs to be taken in a good deal of water as well.
A better way to give magonate is to put the tablets in a pill
crusher, then stir the powder into something like tapioca pudding.
Magonate works well that way.
Chloride is enteric-coated (and comes with some calcium that might
not be needed but usually does no harm) and less appropriate to crush.

Choice of dose can be by weight. Adult doses are based on a weight of
150 lbs, and can be 180mg of Mg (9 tabs) twice a day.
A excessive dose can be uncomfortable (loose stool, and maybe some
cramping with it) so perhaps start lower and work up.
I have no experience with children - In cats I use 30 mg at a time
(for a weight of 10-15 lbs of cat) of gluconate-based Mg (1 tablet)
and increase rate of dosing one, or increase amount as needed.
Since it is fast acting, (expect movement after the next meal) you
can tell what is happening sooner.

Thanks again - In UK we would only be able to get the chloride or gluconate in tablet form.
