Knowing the MM viz repertorizing

Hi All,
all through the thread about "how to study" I had been wodering how
much knowledge of the remedies is worth as compared to knowing how to
rep. etc - except for acute cases, where there is no time for
repertorization.
This wondering also included the methods explained by Chris et al -
i.e. those leading to a deeper understanding of the remedy, wondering
whether there is in any remedy anything to understand.
I was not going to voice such "wild speculations", but, as it
often is the case, something happened just the last few days that made
me wonder whether they are all that wild after all.
I came across a symptom in a youngish man (well mid-thirties which to
me is young:-) ) whom I have been treating for decades off and on. He
is a friend and actually pretty healthy.
However, he called me and gave me a sx which is not so healthy and srp
in pretty healthy person: off and on at night he will wake up and be
drenchend with sweat.
Considering that as a child he did have Mercury symptoms in acutes and
that he also has often mentioned that he easily and heavily sweats
during exercise, of course mercury came to mind.
The symptoms seem to fit well into what we "know" of Mercury:
night aggr, easy and profound sweating. BUT: Mercury does not have
sweating during sleep, never mind profound sweating during sleep! (Not
according to Kent, not according to Phatak.) The guiding symptoms have
it - in highest degree in the sleep paragraph. But one wonders what
Hering meant with it, since in Knerr it is only listed in the fever
rubric - and in the Encyclopedia nightly seat or during sleep is also
only is listed with fever.
Since actually sweating in fever is quite a different pair of boots
from general sweating (in fever it plays a specific part) I wonder
whether we can figure that Mercury would be in any way similar to
"profould outbreaks of sweat during sleep)
Researching further, even the symptom: easy sweat during exercise
seems doubtful. Hering again mentions it - but only in very low degree
- in the Encyclopedia I do not find that sx. anywhere for
Mercurius.
Interesting, isn't it?
Regards
Luise

So definitely know what's true:
