Thanks, Sheila! I think its great you brought the entire issue of feminism
into the conversation--as it DOES need to be addressed in homeopathy.

I have this conclusion to draw about Natasha, and what she likes to write:

in her 20's, a woman spends her years in denial ("There is no need for
feminism! Women and men are Equal! Stop bashing men!!")
in her 30's, a woman spends her years in depression ("How could I have been
so blind!" "How does one negotiate through this grave injustice and
inequality?")
in her 40's, a woman spends her years in discovery ("I can see, feel, know,
how valid and capable and strong and vibrant I am, and value my womanhood
for its own worth. I can make up my own mind, live by my own beliefs, and
honour those things in myself).

So don't let her get to you--she will come to know what you know--and
mean--in time! We all do!

You are quite right about the astonishing lack of female teachers in the
field of homeopathy--I myself had only 2 homeopaths who were female teach
me, in my 3 years of formal study. One of those 2 was let go because some
students called her "bitchy" when she made a fairly forthright statement
about homeopathy. She was quite aware of the politics of health-care in
class, and tried to make us as students aware of it too...this didn't sit
well with some people, I guess.

Anyway, I'm going to teach, and source my references to as many female
writers and thinkers in homeopathy as I can. There has to be concerted
effort to value the work and contribution of people like Melissa Assilem in
our studies, as well as people like Sankaran and Scholten. If we don't
alert people to the bias in our studies, then they'll think none
exists--such a waste! When we can easily take steps to alleviate the bias
after all, just by valuing the work of the women in homeopathy too.

I just felt I needed to have this brief dialogue with you regarding your
postings--and say thank you, too, for bringing the topic to light on the
minutus list.

Regards to you, and all the best as well!
Nancy
