My dog has developed dementia, and I'm trying to find something that I can do for her, other than having to have her euthanized. Does anyone know if any homeopathic vets have had any success at treating dementia in dogs? We don't have any homeopathic vets in my area, and I've been trying to find anything - book, web site - anything online that might offer even a little bit of information to allow me to do something to help her.

It's definitely worth a try, depending on what the apparent insults are that pushed her over the edge. There are only a very few good vet homs out there. We work with Dr. Jeff Feinman, at www.homevet.com, and recommend him, and you may use my name as a referral. He, and most, work long distance, and this is very successful, since, perhaps, so much of what goes on with animals is observed and reported, rather than subjectively given.

Many cases of mental aberration in dogs are treatable to at least a manageable level, and lots have been cured entirely.

Dementia is a very broad term.....

As a veterinary homeopath (I consult by email only) I have had a
fairly recent case of what might be called senile dementia or kitty
Alzheimer, in a cat. She was 16 yrs old when she first started to
forget where she was, where her litter was, or food etc - and she
would cry in confusion, especially at night -it got worse till client
came to me when she was 18 yrs old as the family was getting no sleep.

I chose a simillimum and to make a long story short, she did very
well, and just died recently at the age of 22, happy all the time
with some reduction back to memory loss in the last few months, but
never as bad as it was initially before remedy.

I also had a case some years back of what might be called dementia -
but it was as a result of toxoplasmosis in the brain combined with
feline AIDS - quite a different scenario.

So basically whatever dementia case you have will have its own
particulars and the remedy will need to be fitted to the situation.
