				Insights Would Be Appreciated!

Hi folks. After a year of thinking, researching, and talking to
homeopaths, I finally chose Philip Bailey (author of Homepathic
Psychology, a book I liked a lot) as my homeopath. He is currently in
Denmark. He did a webcam consult with me (I was the one who posted
that I wasn't comfortable with phone. But in tracking Bailey down, I
found he does webcam, and I felt that would be okay tho not quite as
good as in person). In fact, I had to set up a webcam and learn how to
Skype etc.
After about an hour's consult he said, the picture was not immediately
clear to him and he would study the case for a few days. Now he has
emailed to prescribe me homeopathic granite.
I've googled and found some info about provings but not a lot. It
seems interesting and surely I never would have thought of this
myself. I am going to try it of course but I wondered if anybody on
here had any familiarity with it or any insights?
THANKS!

				Hi Jill,
Why not take the remedy first, see what it does (or doesn't)--see
whether it's what you needed or not--and *then* read up on it? Read
beforehand is more likely to be distracting than helpful, really.
Best wishes,
Shannon

When I have a homeopath for a client, I have a discussion with them
up front: Subject 1 - if they want to know the remedy or not.
There are pros and cons to this - but overall I tend to think if you
do too much research and try to second guess the prescription - you
might end up skewing your perception of the result based on what you
think you should see. Other discussion subjects include speaking in
rubrics (rather then simply describing their symptoms), and self
prescribing for acutes during the course of the first remedy. Did
you ask Mr. Bailey about your desire to research the remedy (and let
him know you were putting this info out on a public list?) If so,
perhaps he can provide you with the provings, MM and insights into
the remedy that you desire.

No, it just occurred to me I should let him know (I was just being
honest and curious, but I"m going to let him know by email.)
From what I read of the remedy I can see why he chose it, and
certainly I never would have thought of it myself. I am not trying to
suggest I doubt him or second guess him. I just wondered who else had
used it. I will email him now.

Hi Shannon, I don't think I could do that. I already read up on it! He
also explained the reasons he chose it (in an email). I'm just very
curious if anybody has experience with it. I just ordered it from
Hahnemann's.

Thank you very much this posting and the insights.
When searching for a homeopath in Holland, one of my questions I had
was if I could use myself as a case study because I'm studying
homeopathy. Although, that's currently a bit on a hold due to what I
describe as a burn-out as a result of high stress for a few years and
negative core-beliefs.
Several people warned me that if I would read up on the remedy
described by the homeopath I may become biased which can interfere
with my perception of the results. So, I'll just let it come as it comes.
Beginning next month will be my first consult, and I'm really looking
forward to it.
