No, it isn't the only way it would work. I used to think so too, but..........
I do very well with phone consults and so does the homeopath I most refer to for others (he's also my homeopath)
It is about listening and hearing the persons story - all they want to share, their symptoms, history etc.
Visual is part of it but I have found that I have the case from that in most cases and if need a visual can have a video sent to me.
But I rarely have had to have that. Most if not all comes through in the case taking. If they are restless and I would see that in person to indicated Arsenicum, for example, I get the arsenicum picture from everything else in the case and the visual only confirms.
