Hi,

I have a case where sulphur 200c was given as a clearing remedy. (Three yeaers ago, a previous dose of sulphur cleared writer's block and the patient ended up publishing 2 novels with Random House). In 2 months, a stressful situation resulted in both herpes zolster (guessing from the pattern of the spread of the rash) and genital herpes. I am guessing that Sulphur is throwing up the symptoms and I am asking the patient to wait at least 2 weeks. Actually, Arg-nit fits many small aspects of the case and it is a herpes remedy. But, I don't want to interrupt the Sulphur in case it is going to bring about relief of the chief complaint, mental symptoms. It did this in the past. I am thinking that Arg-nit could suppress the skin symptoms although it fits other aspects of the case nicely.

The rash has no dots. It is like patches that spread down her body in the approximate pattern of the Dermatomes. She also has itch in her rectum and labia. Sulpur herpes is supposed to be small dots. I think small dots could become patches. Nothing raised or pussy. No pain. All typical of Sulphur herpes.

She has never had herpes, but has had chicken pox. No measles. Therefore Herpes Zolster makes sense. No genital herpes, but constant chronic itching around the anus. Lots of extra-marital affairs for her father and the normal American hyper-active sexual life for her. Therefore genital herpes is possible although she has never had them before.

I am thinking if after 2 weeks the skin condition does not take care of itself as it should if it is herpes and there is no amelioration, I will try the Arg-nit.

Does that make sense? Maybe I should wait longer. How do I judge?

I suspect if you wait two weeks, you'll see something happening -- perhaps not with the herpes eruption, however. Whatever does change, especially on the energetic level, will probably tell you if the remedy is a helpful one or not. You're wise to be cautious, with eruptions, that your treatment might be suppressive. If the eruption disappears and the energy deteriorates, then you'd want to reverse the suppression. Yes, that is the logic Rosemary. Got it. Thank-you. After waiting judiciously, energy deteriorates means that remedy causing the aggravation was actually suppressive, even if you have skin eruptions coming out. You can't do this with an emergency case or a very weak patient. The emergency patient can't wait and the weak patient won't wait. But you can with a strong determined px. I have been guilty in the past of waiting too long, so the logic of the judgment call is essential.

These are the factors in deciding how long to wait (what to tell the px). I think the vital force estimation is most important. Part of the judgment also must be based on how much suppression has been done before the remedy. Normal Americans, a lot. But how fast it will be resolved depends on the strength of the vital force more than the amount of suppression. So I have a 50+ patient with depression, hypo-thyroid (5th stagedisease level sycotic which fits the picture) thus obesity. If she was a teenager with the same conditions, maybe a week would be enough. The strong vital force would resolve the issue on schedule. She's not that strong and I seem to have two types of herpes coming out. So the books say 2 weeks for resolution of herpes (Morrison DeskTop), but I am estimating 3 weeks.

The direction of cure is not so essential here because it is already further out to the skin. At the ectoderm. So both the skin and the nerves (herpes is stored in the ganglion and then travels on the nerves to the skin) are involved. Tricky as to which level you are at. Vijayakar is implying that when he says that the ectoderm is the meeting of the highest level (the brain) and the lowest level of disease.

Herpes (chicken-pox, small-pox, measles) is stimulated by virus hiding near the spinal cord (the body core). They are dealt with internally before the cure will appear on the surface. So the direction of cure is opposite the normal direction (Vijayakar p 55). The normal healing path is meso-endo-ecto (higher level disease to lower level) These viral diseases take the neuro-ecto curative path. Since neuro is first, perhaps I should expect the depression to lift before the herpes leaves the skin.

The thyroid has been lasered in part to "cure" a hyperthyroid problem, so I think no cure is possible.
