i am trying to deal with a woman, age 65, who has become suicidal
due to non-stop illness.
i am concerned about dealing with the depression and suicidal thoughts
as the center of the case or how much weight to give the physical issues.
i have known this woman at least 10 yrs. she is always sick with rare
moments of health. she attibutes her illness to some nose surgeries when
younger which destroyed the immune building structures in the nose.
as a consequence, she is very subject to infection that results in intense
head colds, massive mucous that runs down her throat, keeps her awake,
and has her spending days trying to expel thick mucous from the throat.
given the structural damage to her nose, i dont know that the susceptibility
to colds can be adequately dealt with, but i would hope that some remedies
might help control them and ease her healings.
considering other health problems that i have witnessed, i would say she
has a high anxiety for health with despair of recovery. she has similar
reactions to a condition of ibs which acts up periodically. she has limited
her food intake significantly.
her preferred method of death is overdose of meds. she acutally had
collected them over the years in preparation for the time that she could not
take it anymore. the meds were stolen from her last year which sent her
into a tailspin. having possession of these meds was a comfort to her.
