Hi,

I don't work on animals (wish I did), but I got an answer to Irene's point that a program should integrate the human and the vet rubrics.

1. Radar does integrate them.
2. There is a particular colored dot before human rubrics that can be used for animals. Another colored dot before rubrics that are specifically from the vet literature.

Also, note that some rubrics can only be used for specific animals (feline leukemia) and some are specific to humans (can't remember words).

i have radar and also have its vet program which is integrated.
however, i dont understand the 'dot'system that you describe.
what version are you using?

I don't have it, but I talked to Kim Elia about the question. He said the dots were next to the rubric. They are green and red. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I believe these are called Kinsley's Dots, (sp?) and they refer to the importance of the rubric.

Kunzli (I don't remember the correct spelling either. this is wrong) dots are something different. They are next to the specific remedy and indicate that that famous homeopath, Kunzli, always cured that symptom with that rubric. I think that's what "therapeutic importance" means.

Maybe it has something to do with the version that you have. Contact radar tech support. Support@whnow.com They are excellent. Chris always gets back to you that day and has some sort of answer.

i wonder what version of radar this is in. my radar vet program has a V next to rubrics
when you do a search. but that doesnt indicate an 'only' for animals rubric.
maybe i will try to call them this week

Thanks for finding that out from me!
Someone on another list had said the vet module was separate - I am
glad it's integrated.
Well that would be every rubric for humans - so this would be a waste
of dots:-)
This dotty stuff does not make a lot of sense to me. Homeopathy works
the same in any species. It only needs *similar* symptoms.
So if you see the symptoms in a bee, a cow or a person - makes no
difference - the same symptoms will need the same remedy.
Well that is also not true:-)
Just because cats get leukaemia does not make the *symptoms* (and
thus the rubrics and remedies) unique to cats.
Same with feline AIDS and simian monkey AIDS and human AIDS - same
symptoms mean same rubrics and remedy options.
Also, wasting diseases occur in several species - and while the
vethoms might find rubrics and remedies first - the rubrics and
remedies can certainly be applied to humans with the same wasting
disease symptoms as well - and to other species with similar symptoms.
No that's also not true.
Someone is making incorrect assumptions.
ALL rubrics can be useful to ALL species.

Homeopathy's healing energy does not discriminate on the basis of
species ----- and nor should we!!!!
Arnica for a bashed knee works as well for humans as for bees.
Homeopathy is based on *symptoms* not species, and not diseases!

I remember when I first started as a vethom. I went through Boericke,
highlighting the rubrics I felt could possibly be used for animals.
At the time I did not know how much i was "wet behind the ears":-)
Every case I did, I added more highlights. The entire repertory was
highlighted in no time.

So I KNOW from experience that it is a big mistake to limit ones use
of rubrics - for ANY species, including human.

But maybe the dots look pretty:-)
As long as the software does not make me use them, I'm happy.

you do have to buy the Radar module separately, don't you? If you buy the Essential Synthesis book, however, the vet module comes with the accompanying paperback.At least I think it is the same thing. you have 'concepts' which points you towards 'translations'.
'atrophic rhinitis of pigs' becomes 'nose-caries', 'nose, ozena' and 'nose- inflammation atrophic'. Then there is the 'repertory' laid out as usual where they have just included rubrics that might be relevant to animals, pointing you to the relevant page in the main repertory or, where they have them, giving you the remedies that have been used successfully by vets for that symptom/condition. This is where you find feline IDV under Generals
Some of it is a bit daft imo. eg 'Marking, urinating indoors' ( common animal symptom) becomes 'Mind, dirty, defecating and urinating indoors' and 'Mind, dirty, urinating deliberately indoors'. I think that particular activity could mean very different things to animals and humans. 'Hiding bones in holes' becomes 'avarice' or 'delusions he is poor'. I don't think i would regard it as a significant 'symptom' at all, let alone one to be treated.
Still, it is a handy extra to a very good, lightweight, repertory...and included in the price.

It is these "TRANSLATIONS" that would make the repertory useless - as
it is the vethom's *job* to know which translation applies to which
situation. Nobody writing a repertory can do it for them - so the
translations should not exist! If any one follows them they may as
wedll throw darts at the remedy names to choose one - it is meaningless.

For example:
"Marking, urinating indoors" should never be "translated".
The vethom's JOB is to find out:
* Is this resentment at the owner going to work leaving the animal
alone = loneliness, resentful, forsaken, etc
* IS this urinating outside the litter to notify the owner of a
urinary infection issue? = cantharis, causticum, etc depending on
other rubrics
* Is this territorial marking to let the females know HE is
available, willing and able? (Needs training with studpants and Bach
remedy to teach where is okay to mark and where not)
* Is the spraying to do with fearfjulness as a result of bullying
from another cat - to try to make enough "scent" to seem important
and less vulnerable?
* Is it a female in season claiming her readiness to be mated?
* Is it a cat getting mature and bigger and trying to become topcat
over the current one?
* Is it a cat who is trying to defend topcat place against a challenger?
* Is it an inside cat trying to tell an outside one that this
territory is already taken?
* Is it two cats overspraying each other while deciding who gets what
part of the house as territory?
* Is it a cat constitutionally inclined not to care where they pee?
* Is it a dog peeing out of pure nervous excitement when an owner
returns?
* Is the animal old and incontinent?
* Is it a mother with kittens/pups, marking to warn off males (or
other females - a separate set of emotions) from her babies?

Those are more than a dozen of many reasons for "marking, urinating
indoors" - and no repertory can decide for the vethom which it
is!!!!! And thus what rubrics or remedies apply.
NOT ONE of these perfectly ordinary causes of indoor urinating fits
the arbitrary translation suggested of:
"MIND - dirty - defecating and urinating indoors"
This was not even done by someone even trying to think of animal
behavior in context!

A repertory that pretends to do this "translating" is thus HIDING the
right rubrics and remedies - not making it clearer!!!

Sorry - but a repertory can NOT do the "translations" for the vethom.
It needs separate study and analysis BY the vethom concerning the
SPECIFIC case.

So - I repeat my assertion that vet work MUST be from the main
repertory and NOT some invention of a vethom one.

Really interesting Irene. But the same applies to humans. As you were describing cats, I kept thinking of humans doing something similar. I would help if we could be so basic in our understandings of humans. Sometimes, I think it must be appropriate.
