skeptic with seasonal allergy

Had a male age 40 in yesterday persuaded by his wife to see me as she has done very well with homeopathy over the last few months.
Presenting complaint is something that starts in spring most years but didn't last year and lasts throughout the summer. He has a pressing constant nagging feeling on both sides of his forehead above the eyes although he said temples. He also described it as a gentle throb as if someone is pushing his head gently. Sometimes his eyes are gritty. He said he is very irritable with it - which is not at all like him and he is not sleeping at night as it makes him feel nauseous. He said more than once that it felt as if he has had too much red wine and he feels in a constant state of hung over. It started for the first time 3 years ago. There is no sneezing and no discharge from his nose. If anything his nose feels slightly blocked more on the left side. As the day goes on he gets more irritable and feels as if he wants to shout and scream over something and nothing.
Normally he is an easy going chap, not outgoing, not into confrontation, not sociable but quietly confident. No problem with public speaking which he does a lot. He gets SAD in the winter which started in his early 20s. Food - desires sweet things***
I gave him Nux Vom 30 to take 3x a day unless there is an improvement based on the unusual irritability for him and his description of being hung over. After the first one which he took in my clinic he reckoned he felt different but his wife phoned me about something concerning herself and I asked how he was doing and she said that she didn't think there had been any difference yet which may or may not be correct.
Have any of you any suggestions for this seasonal allergy which I don't think I would quite call hay fever or any other questions I can ask him.
Thanks
