Dear Friends-

On April 15th Dr.S.P.Koppikar, that doyen of Indian
homeopathy, passed away at Chennai, India. A leader and teacher of
homeopathy, unsurpassed in his approach to homeopathy as well as to
life itself, full of practical wisdom and desire to learn from each
and every one of his cases, he happened to be the best role model
for any one starting out in Homeopathy - including myself.

He was one of the oldest practising homeopaths in India. He started
his homeopathic practice in 1937 and was still practising last year
when I visited his clinic- he had practised for more than 70 years!
He was the editor of Homeopathic Heritage published by B Jain
Publishers for many years. He was a close friend of Sankaran (
Rajan's father), Sarabhai Kapadia and other stalwarts of Indian
homeopathy.

His approach was mostly key notes complemented by etiological,
constitutional and nosodal prescriptions. The success of his
prescribing methods proved the aptness of his approach. He had a
huge collection of homeopathic literature dating to the 1870s and
was an avid reader.

His book Koppikar's clinical experiences 70 years in homeopathy
published by B Jain Publishers is a collection of some of his
speeches and writings on homeopathy.

His death is a huge loss to the homeopathic community as a whole.
Though I have not been in touch with him for a few years till last
year, it is such a personal loss.

I met Dr. s.p.koppikar only in the year of 1997... there on I used
to admire his way of practicl approaches never says no to any of our
doubts and never gets tired seeing cases from the day beginig and
till the end of the day he will be fresh with his young mind and
enthusiasam to greet the patients by their names ... I was proud
that I got to work with him for 2 years only but still his death is
seemd a great loss for me... one day I was searching the Allen s key
note ..Dr. Aleem called me and asked what re u searching for I said
my book ... he replied it wiil be with Dr.koppikar... it was an old
book that I bought in 1991 .. the bound has gone... but still it was
precious because my identification markes kept me not throughing
this book.... after few days ... Dr. S.P.koppikar brought it bound
by himself and one beauty is he wanted me to select a beatiful cover
to past on it asking the clinic boy to get the colour paper and
pasted it for me in his age of 92.
I feel he has not gone from me he lives with me....

Dear Sirs,
Reading about Mr. Koppikar, I am so inspired. Thank-you for telling
us about him. Certainly he leaves both a spiritual and a medical
legacy.
Blessings,
